I was wondering if anyone took the mcat in september and at the same time applied the same month and got in..I understand it would be really late but is there any chance of getting in if I applied broad?

Is there a chance? Sure. I know someone who applied in September and got into med school (although I think they already had their MCAT score). If you're interesting in DO schools, some of them have pretty late deadlines and I know someone who got into a DO school after they applied literally the day before the deadline (which was in April or something insane like that).

I submitted my AMCAS app in September (secondaries done sometime before mid-November) and had decent luck during the application process. However, I can't stress enough that I was very very lucky that things worked out so well. I was not an amazing applicant (my numbers were low to average for MD/PhD), and I honestly didn't expect to do as well as I did applying so late.

If you have a good, solid application, you will probably be fine - but if you don't (i.e. if you are average) you may have more trouble than you expect. Two of my schools rejected me immediately because they had given out all of their interview invites before they even looked at my application, and several others told me that I made things very difficult for myself by applying late.

If you are taking the MCAT in September, your situation will probably be even more difficult than mine was. Not impossible, but far from ideal.

If you truly do not care where you end up and you get a solid GPA and MCAT, you will get in somewhere. But if you really want to go to a particular school, then try to apply earlier. I applied late and got rejected by my two dream schools post secondary, interviewed and rejected at my third favorite school. All my interviews were from January to March. I had 0 acceptances through my final exams and graduation. I ended up getting into med school after May 15. I think if I applied earlier I would have at least got an interview at my dream schools and probably secured a spot somewhere early and not had to worry about it. I really made my life much more stressful than it needed to be.
