I was put on a waitlist at a school in January via email and then today got a letter in the mail from the same school saying I was rejected. How should I phrase an email to them?

In the NYU forum someone said they got a rejection after being put on the waitlist

Same thing happened to me today actually !

Can I ask for what school? And did you email them asking about it?

Sorry and also did I say you were taken off the wait list or not mention the waitlist at all?

It was for temple, how about you? and no didn't email them about it. The school wasn't my top choice.

After the interview (around February), they notified me the next day about being placed in the wait list. Got a rejection letter today.

On the bright side, at least they made a decision rather than keeping me waiting longer!

Maybe in your email to the school, you can let them know you received the decision and will be planning to apply the next cycle perhap, so you would like to know what can be done to improve the application and what aspects need to be strengthened.

Do you mind me asking which school this was?

mine was for temple too. And yeah thats exactly what i put in my email. I just wish though that they phrased the letter a little differently, like that I was taken off the waitlist instead of rejected from the program ( I know its basically the same thing but to me it just comes off a little different) because it just seems so contradictory to the first email I received in January. Thanks again!
