I currently work at Walgreens pharmacy. My "senior tech" and my store manager are in complete cahoots with each other. Without getting into too much detail, basically, I feel incredibly uncomfortable working there (because of politics) and it has completely skewed my vision on pharmacy. I know its just pertaining to this pharmacy and not all, but it's really unmotivating to go to work knowing im going to be uncomfortable and upset about something they're doing to me. And, this in turn really makes me want to just change my major because I feel that this is the way all pharmacies are going to be like (which I know it's not, but I can't help the feeling). I'm currently applying to pharmacy school so I really dont want to give up and if I end up quitting or going to a different pharmacy, I don't know how that will look on my application. I need some advice, motivation, something to get me through this because last night I had a nasty run in with the senior tech and store manager where I just laid everything out about how I felt. I was just referred to the pharmacy manager who I am going to speak to today, but this is a big problem overall for me. it's not only affecting my school work but my motivation to continue on with pharmacy.

Does anyone have any input/advice or has anyone ever even gone through this? Especially before I go in at 2 today to talk to the pharmacy manager?

thanks,
crystal

My advice is to talk to the pharmacy manager about the entire situation. You will realize that in a professional environment, confrontation is usually not the best way to resolve these things. Tact and professional ways of approaching unethical/unprofessional behavior and remedying them are skills you will learn in pharmacy school too. When talking to the pharmacy manager, I would definitely explain why you feel this way and what you hope can happen so that you don't have to work in an uncomfortable working environment (either store transfer or something like that).

you're right there is so much politic going on in retail, esp gangreens...well, i would consider applying for another company and job and if i get your chance, give them a notice and keep quite about it, sooner or later, they'll be shock to know that you quit on them, but do they care?....if i were to blow up, i wouldn't do in vain, i'd do it in style...also retail have a very high turnover rate, they don't care shietz about their employer, esp tech,it's always about profit, just like the movie sicko with insurance company...i always see new people/employee all the time, even assistant manager quitting left and right...so you're not the only one in the same situation and boat...i just laugh when they hire a dumb/useless employee  who call in sick, etc
