For people who have reapplied in the past:

Has anyone halted their application process because of a poor MCAT score? My concern is that after getting a bad mcat score, has just decided, whatever, ill just apply next year?

If so, in that very instance....I am just concerned because I have all my reccs in transcripts, and sent primaries. But I am just thinking of not applying now and waiting for next year. For those in this position, when you applied next year, did you have to re-ask your recommenders or could you just request your committee to send in everything again. Plus, this is silly, but if you had anticipations of doing even better this year (i.e.- summa cum laude, phi beta kappa honors)...i would presume that further academic honors bestowed at the end of your senior year would only benefit you correct?

thanks.

weren't you the one that posted that you got a 40 on the july 18th thread?

Those were jokes that I got punished for via a ban, but I did express my apologies after...come one guys, sense of humor...i might have taken it too far, but the majority of my threads have been productive and conducive tot he topic at hand...

I am in this exact same position at the moment.

Sent in my primary, wasted many dollars, now got my MCAT score and realize it's not getting me into medical school (at least an MD school).

So, even though I've applied to like 30 schools, I'm going to only send in the secondaries for my state schools and lower tier schools. Completing any other secondary is just going to be wasted $$$ and energy.

I've also applied to DO schools.

If all else fails, I'm going to hopefully do some kind of post-bacc program with a guaranteed med school acceptance, or retake MCAT and apply next year.

How low are we talking here? Like, SDN standard low (34) or like real world low (20's).

:/

um its a 30 with a 6 in verbal...so i mean verbals long term improvement and given the unpredictablity of my performance on the upcoming exam, im not sure if I want to have it scored to give myself a true 2 shots at the MCAT next year...

My flatmate has a 3.6 and just got his scores back, and ended up with a balanced 30. He has no idea what to do right now because his scores are high enough that with a little luck and some good interviewing, he could get in to a school he wants to go to, but he's definitely not as competitive as he wants to be. As of now, he hasn't sent a single secondary and is just spending his days worrying.

well THAT sounds really productive

when is anyone going to learn to just stop worrying and do the darn work????? SDN sometimes feels like one big worry-fest.
