Has anyone heard back (interview or rejection) from USC neurology?
yes i received an interview invite on 10/9/09.
ain't such a great program, from what i heard. residents look terrible and county system essentially sucks. don't get down for not getting an invite.

One of the neurology residents recently said that they're not sending out interviews until December....I don't know how true that is, but that's what I heard.
Movement fellowship at USC went to someone from Kaiser as no one from inside wanted fellowship. One grad is doing neuro-interventional, another one neuro-icu, another neuro-onc and the last clinical neurophysiology. All of the recent grads got into very competitive fellowships.
Hogwash to saying grads dont do well from SC.
I went on to UCLA from USC and I am now in private practice.
USC neurology is not for people who dont want a lot of call and a lot of autonomy in a county system. For better or worse, the clinical training in a county system can not be beaten. USC residents also staff a slick for profit private USC-University hospital with valet parking.
Good luck to those who interview. I did not ace medical school and I am not the best test taker, but I am confident of my clinical skills because of my SC training.
I know that the program is in shambles from talking to CURRENT RESIDENTS and a medical student who rotated at USC recently. There is a lazy atmosphere there -- and the work done is simply inefficient. Great, county sees many pathologies, but as a USC resident, you don't get a full learning experience or really take advantage of them. Faculty may be decent, but the residency training is simply sub-par. Perhaps, the lowest tier in California.
Wow! Calling any residency atmosphere lazy is extremely arrogant. Please enjoy Stanford, UCLA, UCSD, Kaiser, or UCI if you plan to come to California to train. It is clear you do not plan on interviewing at SC.
I agree, the program does not rub everyone the right way. I would urge people to check out the new county hospital themselves and meet the current sub-par lowest tier neurology residents in California themselves to see if they agree with your assessment.
