I'm taking it on Friday for my final. If I get a 95% or above I'll get an A. If I get a 35% I keep a B haha.

Thoughts on it?

You're going to get a B... You'll live.

Ya, I took it about 20 years ago. Not kidding. If I remember right, I scored 97th percentile. My instructor was so mad that I didn't get one more question correct...

Good luck on it. I hope you can get your A.

Unless your organic class has been especially hard, you can count on getting a B.

Wow nice, and thanks! I highly doubt I'll get a 95 though

Yeah, sorry man, I took the ACS a year ago and feel like I'm very solid in orgo. Orgo at my school is notoriously difficult (every exam consisted of only 2 or 3 problems, each a dirty cocktail of NMR, IR, Mass Spec, Synthesis, Mechanisms and knowledge of all lab reagents in order to determine the structures of all molecules formed in a reaction we'd never seen before). I was usually able to work my way through this 3d Chinese jigsaw puzzle of mind ****ery but couldn't top 95% on the ACS. Even if you know Orgo like Gary Busey knows insanity, a 95% is 67/70 correct. You're bound to miss at least 4 questions from misbubbles, misinterpretation or ambiguities on the test (even though they ensure me there are none :wtf:).

Hey man thanks for crushing my dreams with your response 🙁 Haha just messing! I'll just study like 30 minutes the night before and take the B.

Thanks for the response though

I only needed a ~70ish to get an A when I took it, so there wasn't much motivation. I ran through the study twice and got an 88. 95 is totally achievable if you prepared properly. Keep a steady pace and don't make easy mistakes on nomenclature, simple reactions, etc. I felt the non-answers were fairly obvious to eliminate on many questions. Good luck.

I didn't even attempt to study for this exam.

I didn't do very well lol.

It honestly resembled nothing similar to the class material. It was just a waste of my day because it was only worth like 10% of the class anyway.

Good luck tho.

Good Luck. Honestly, I didn't think the test was too hard, just find the official study guide thing and do all the problems. Also, UNDERSTAND how to predict the answers in the problems, don't memorize. Makes organic so much easier.

When I took it, I knew how to find every answer except 3. For those three I still managed to figure something out and I ended up being correct. I think I only missed one question due to me marking the wrong letter. So it's definitely possible for you to get your A. You got it dude/dudette!

just go through the study guide that they have for it and youll be golden

then sleep
😴

95th percentile? Or does the professor convert the percentile to a percentage? Low 90's percentile is fairly easy if you think you can teach the material to someone else, in my experience (and I'm no genius).

I needed to get a 73% to keep my A and I took it yesterday. Needless to say I studied only 20 minutes and thought it was rather hard. It probably wasn't hard if you bought the book though, but I was too cheap.

I'm due to take the ACS exam a week from tomorrow. I need ~74% to keep an A. He will be curving it like a normal exam. Any thoughts on success here? Two people are retaking the class, and they said that the study guide did not help.

UPDATE after necrobump: ended up with 100% after the curve.

UPDATE. Not as bad as I thought. It was curved where I could keep an A. I was stoked when I heard the news.
