Now that I have been to a few places, my thinking on where I want to be has completely changed. I am really hoping to be at Einstein instead of my current school. In fact, I think that I am at the point where I would decline an offer from here (if I were to receive one) to accept at Einstein. I would have bet you a million bucks 6 months ago that I would never say that....

Is anyone else in the same boat? This whole process involves a lot of unpredictabilities 🙂

I feel the same way too! Back then, I was so set on Johns Hopkins and then the dreaded ranked waitlist letter...makes me think that they already had an idea of who they wanted in our group and that it wasn't meant for me to be in East Baltimore.

Ever since I got accepted to Einstein, the more I look into it, the more I'm excited. My family is only a 1/2 hour away from Einstein. I plan to have a car. But most of all, the doctors who inspired me to get into medicine were trained and practice at Einstein hospitals. Maybe I was meant for my first acceptance, especially because I'm interested in neuroscience/neurology (Einstein got more NIH $ than NYU and Mount Sinai). I'm waitlisted at NYU and waiting for Mount Sinai - looks like I'm leaning towards Einstein though for personal reasons.

So yes, this process is unpredictable, at least for me too . 🙂

P&S has been my top choice since freshman year, and it still is. So if I get rejected next week, I'll be faced with 4 years of anticipation shot straight to hell. What a way to go :scared:

UPenn has been my number one choice since freshman year of college! That has not and will not change! Although I must admit, Yale really impressed me this week. 🙂

ya like those ventilated anatomy labs aye? my friend was telling me about that and telling me how the smells are greatly minimized. thats a nice bonus. but yeah she was impressed by yale as well...

good luck with upenn tho...decisions come out relatively soon! 🙂

Thanks so much Jlee! I wish you the best with UCLA! 🙂 I am so nervous waiting for UCLA and UPenn's decision is probably 3 weeks away. If I get into UCLA (and God willing UPenn), I wish I could give my UCLA acceptance to you. I do not understand why you were not accepted outrightly. You are a phenomenal applicant because you dealt with so much while in school. If they do not understand that, then they do not deserve you anyway. 😉

to the OP: top choices would have been ucsf and ucla

and now to you drj...you are too kind man. if this is anything like the way you are to others...you would make an excellent physician that even upenn would have to remark how a good choice you are.

you need to me uh..influence upenn in anyway? i got friends in low places if ya know what i mean

When I started the application process, Yale was my first choice by far. No other school compared with it in my mind. It's still my top choice, but now it's tied with Hopkins. I wasn't expecting to be so taken with Hopkins as well. Also, there were other schools that I was expecting to love and ended up being rather disappointed with ... goes to show you how actually experiencing the atmosphere of a school is so important. Now if one of these schools would just accept me ... I hate this waiting game. 😕

I never thought of a top choice before I applied. Pretty much any school in California was my priority. It's kind of weird that I never really thought about having that #1 school...hmmm.

Hope all you guys get your top choices.

Fate is really weird. When I applied, I wasn't even considering the idea of coming back to UCLA. I thought it's a state school and there are only 2-4 international students in the entire school, my chance will be much higher at other schools.

Back in last August, Someone told me apply to graduate student housing at UCLA to hold a spot for next year b/c it's hard to get. At that time, I was like what's the point, it's very unlikely I'm coming back.

It turns out that it may very well be where I end up next year.

nope, still the same for me

yup.. my top choice changed when they rejected me 🙁

At some time during the application and interview process, I realized I didn't want to pursue a PhD in a joing degree program. That definitely caused me to change my top choice. The school that was one of my fallbacks became my number one. I got accepted and turned down an interview at what I had thought for years was my top choice...

Yeah,I used to think WashU. was my top choice. I have nothing against the school, they have an excellent program. I just didn't like st. louis very much.
UVa was at the top of my list after all the interviews were over. Fortunately they accepted me, now I can let the one other acceptance and all the wait-lists I have go and open space for some of yall who haven't been as fortunate yet.

Charlottesville or bust!

all throughout my undergrad harvard was my first choice. in fact, i foolishly but fleetingly entertained the thought of only applying to harvard. however, God has it in his plan that i should not go there. why? i dont know. but i trust that whatever He wills is the best for me. i was surprised to learn that i never really knew that much about medical schools. when i began to get interviews and look into schools in more detail, i found that a lot of them were very different. now i have a different top choice but no runner ups cause i found that i really like my top choice and i dont like my other choices. so i really have to trust God cause my top choice is going to take a looong time to send out any letters whatsoever.

Thanks Jlee! You are too damn funny. No need to influence UPenn. If UPenn does not want me, then I understand. So many qualified applicants apply. It is my dream school, but this medical school process is so random that I have no idea whatsoever that I will get in. I have some great back-up schools that I would be happy at, so although I will be crushed if not accepted, I will make due and just really work hard in whichever med school I decide to go to and try to get a residency at CHOP. Good luck everyone! I hope you all get into your top choices with some scholarship money to boot! 😀

After looking at the financial aspects of paying all this back my top choice is now whoever place is the cheapest.

Top choice never changes... real choice will. +pity+

My top choices change with US New's rankings

When i first applied my top choice was any school that let me in. Of course back then i didn't think i would get an interview. Now I have an acceptance and it's not my first choice. Is it just me or does everyone get waitlisted at their top choice. Most of the people I know are in that boat. I hope to be a future resident of New Orleans for four years when Tulane lets me off the waitlist
