Since getting into medical school, I've noticed people being very envious and hateful towards me. Now, I don't go around telling the people at my undergrad that I've got into medical school; it's usually my 2 or 3 friends bragging about me. Then, people give me that face. You know, it's this one:

It wouldn't bother me in the slightest if it wasn't from people who I otherwise never talk to until now when they have some reason for questioning my motives and or ability to get into medical school. Anyone else brushing off haters lately?

I'm experiencing the opposite.. Everyone I know at school has gotten into a higher ranked med school than the one I got into so far..

I look forward to the day I get hate for getting into med school.

Pfft, the cheaper, the better. As long as it's accredited.

SDN and its double posting... It has earned the picture again. xD

I go to a no name school where most people are unfamiliar with the application process and unrealistic with their chances. Also, it's California.

Are you actually nontrad? Just asking because in your first post it sounded like you were still in undergrad.

I am still in undergrad. I took a long time off of school.

I've received awesome support and some ridiculous hate from those who are supposed to be my friends. Oh well….we promised to all check in on each other and support one another……then it turned into a few of them being completely hateful.

Dude...just do you and go get that gwalla

I've been brushing off haters all my life, especially in undergrad--and I haven't even gotten into medical school (yet)! Just ignore them!

lol I remember thinking I was hot **** when I got in and tried not to worry about my "haters". Trust me, that feeling subsides pretty quickly when you realize that you're going to be broke for the next four years and at the very bottom of the medical hierarchy.

My bro on the other hand is one of the most successful people I know. Pretty sure a good majority of you has seen at least one of his works. He has earned his haters.

Majority of hate comes from people who post about it on FB/other social media outlets. Those other pre-med drop outs/people applying and have no interviews usually unfriend you quite quickly and if you run into them, they'll pretend they don't know you. Other people that weren't pre-med probably just didn't think you had any potential.

I know FB and social media is petty and a waste of time, but it is unbelieveable how throughout the the acceptance thread, most people's first reaction is to port about it. Oh well, haters gonna hate :cigar:😎

My friends are happy for me because I've been working towards this goal for a long time. My boyfriend thinks I'm making a financially crazy decision to go but he supports me. My parents thought I should be a PA instead but now that I'm in, they're reluctantly proud. I don't think anyone is in awe or hatin'.

I can't imagine being envious of my situation. Enjoy the haters, I guess?

This is on point. +1

It's all good. Just listen to some Drake songs and you'll feel better 😀

It sounds like compensation for wanting to achieve something, but can't. So, they get defensive over people. Kinda like ugly girls questioning why a pretty girl has success.

My parents hated the idea of me going to med school lol. But, I think they are proud of me now. A lot of my friends are happy for me but of course, there are always few of them being bitter about it.

My dad thinks I should stay at home and have kids….he hates the idea I'm going to medical school. I'm fine with that…he doesn't have to be involved.

After I told my dad I was accepted, he asked me if I even had the innate compassion required to be a doctor. I dunno if he was joking or not.

My mom was proud of me. :heckyeah:
My parents didn't even care. lol.

Guys, let's keep this on track. This is beginning to look like the start of an online group therapy session.
