Hey guys and gals,
I will be graduating this december with a major in Biology. So Basically, I have the spring off and I need a job, (b/c If I get into medical school this year I would'nt start untill fall 2005) So I would like a job that pays decently well, but will be o.k. with 6-7 month (Jan-Jul) commitment only. Anyone have any cool job ideas for recent graduates with a degree in the Natural sciences. Please Help!! 🙂

University labs are always looking for techs with a background in the biological and physical sciences. Do a search of universities in your area and go to their personnel web pages. Many of the jobs are grant funded too, so they only need someone for 6 months to a year.

Thanks! I'll look into that

Anyone else, come on.... I know some of you all have to work somewhere 🙂

Go biotech, just don't let them know you're planning on med school or work part time instead. Hopefully you live where there are a lot of biotech companies like San Diego.

The lab tech thing is a good idea (some will require one year's experience, but not all). If you aced the MCAT, you could also look into being a Kaplan teacher.

substitute teacher. definitely an interesting job and it has a flexible schedule in case you want to do some post graduation traveling.

I have the greatest job...I help run a golf course and country club. Let me tell you how much my biology degree helps with that one. 🙂

In all honesty, I have a great job and love what I do. I have a very flexible schedule also. This allows me to still volunteer at a local hospital and with an after school literacy program at a local high school. I have been through a few interviews and nobody has asked me about my current job or why I took it. I was asked about my recent volunteering.

All that being said, don't limit yourself. If you find a cool job, do it. Running a golf course/country club and rubbing elbows with the right ppl (btw I got multiple LORS from some of my members) is sometimes more beneficial than any medical experience I could have ever gotten.

Have fun with your time off.
