Hey guys,
So my oGPA is 3.67 and sGPA is 3.62
DAT scores are AA 21/ TS 20/ PAT 21

So far, i have applied to:
USC
UCSF
UoP
Western
BU
Tufts
Harvard
CWRU
NOVA
UPenn
Temple
Pitt
UConn
NYU
Buffalo
Stony Brook
Columbia
UNE
UMD
UMichi

I have fairly good amount of shadowing hours and volunteering hours.
I have done 3 semesters of research.

Do you suggest to add any more schools?

Thanks

The number of schools to which you've applied is irrelevant. The state in which you live is much more important. If you tell me your home state I will be better able to answer this question.

I am a NY resident!

Take off Harvard, Penn, and Stony Brook. Just trying to save you a few hundred dollars. I don't think a 20 TS will cut it for the big gun schools.

I'd actually keep Stony Brook. Good GPA and good amount of research.

Definitely keep Stony Brook for that in-state tuition! 3.67/21 assuming everything else is above average should at least put you in consideration for them.

I will! thanks
do you recommend to add more schools?

I have already applied to schools.. so may be I cannot take those schools out..
but!
do you recommend to add more schools?
(just in case, my DAT scores are not 23+)

Thanks! I agree with Rekker that UCSF should go as you are not a CA resident. With your GPA and DAT, I don't think it is necessary to apply to as many schools as you have listed. Start by keeping Stony Brook and Buffalo of course. You have a nice list of private schools, and Harvard is a reach for most people so if you want to leave it that's fine but don't expect much (I'm not either don't worry!). You can probably afford to take off any private schools that you wouldn't really want to go to, but for safety purposes leaving them on there is smart. If you want to trim the fat, I would pick a few of the following to eliminate: Temple, Pitt, UConn, UMD, Michigan. You can apply to all of them if you'd like, but as an OOS at these public schools it will be a little more difficult. UConn and Pitt give in-state tuition after the first year, so those would be good deals if you got in. I do not know about Temple, UMD, or Michigan. Hope this helps!

Thanks for your comment!
I really appreciate it
But, I have already applied to schools so.. probably it is too late to take those schools out...
However,
do you recommend to add more schools?
I am worried that my DAT score is not 23+...
so I may not get any acceptances..

I had pretty similar stats and I am a NY resident and I interviewed at UCSF. I'd keep them on your list, great school. I'd take off Harvard.

I still think 20 schools are a bit much considering you GPA and DATs. Its going to be a bit expensive for you if that matters. Secondary fees, busses/flights and hotels. Save some money and go on a cruise imo.

PITT is expensive, no?

UNE is too new imo.

NOVA is expensive and I read a few negative comments on here regarding them not having their school together and D3/D4 were having complaints.

Tufts is too expensive for my taste and too large of a class size. I feel the same about Upenn unless you get a dean's scholarship.

You have a good resume. Its very likely you're going to get into a good public school.

I don't think you need to add more schools, unless you want to go for a few safeties. I have similar stats, although a little less in terms of numbers, and I'm also thinking about UConn, UPenn, and Pitt. I think columbia and the UC's might be a bit of a reach for you unless you have strong academic credentials (e.g. papers, lor's from PI's, etc.), but I could be wrong. Please keep us posted on how you do!

what other safties do you recommend? and where did you apply so far?

I was considering the midwesterns and LECOM/similar schools private schools, but I decided not to after looking at the cost of relocation/cost of the schools. I'm applying to several on your list and a few state schools in the midwest (closer to home--basically analogous to the NY schools for you).

I hope we both can get into wherever we want 🙂
Good luck!

how did the interview go at UCSF??
It went really well I thought. I had a really nice interviewer and we really just talked about me being from NY and why I wanted to be a dentist. Definitely my favorite school and interview overall.. But I was on the last interview day and was wait listed. Best of luck!
