this may be a simply question but i just realized that im taking the mcat in august and im only a junior...can you apply to DO school as a junior or do you have to have your bachelor degree first in order to apply...i would think that they would want you to have your bachelors so they can view your whole transcript but again thats why im asking...thanks

I applied as junior as well. They will will look at your transcripts for whatever you have so far and make a decision based on that or choose to put you on hold until maybe your fall semester grades of your senior year are in. Either way as you progress during your last year, just send them an updated transcript and any other extracurriculars you may have. They usually have enough information if you have completed 3 out of 4 years of college to make a decision.

They definitely want you to have a bachelor's degree by the time you start medical school.

Also AACOMAS and AAMCAS give you the option of entering classes you plan on taking in the fall or spring, so the medical schools know what you are planning/are registered to take but have not completed yet.

No you do not but most schools expect you to graduate as a requirement of matriculation. In fact many students apply to medical school in the senior year of college but do not think that they will not count your senior year results, they will expect you to continue to perform well.

Yep you don't need your bachelor's before applying, just before you go to med school. I'm actually graduating a year early, so I took my MCAT during my 2nd year and applied in the summer. My state school didn't like that they had only 2 years of coursework to look at, but it worked out 🙂

ok..thanks alot of the replies..helps me out alot
