Hey everybody,
Here's the deal, how do med school look at a really bad semester. I know a lot of you might not think I did bad, but the truth is for me it is, even my profs have said I wasn't up to my normal standards. Physics I finally brought up to a A-/A depending on the final, cell (that was always my easy class) but my organic class I messed up on. Its either going to be a B+/A-
Now, school started two weeks late because of the hurricanes and then I missed a month because I had mengitisis (picked that up from the hospital)Anyway, the rest of the semester has been playing catch up and on these last two weeks, I've been sick again dealing with some family issues and its just really taken its tolll, especially on my test today!
Anyway, can I explained what happened? or what not? Honestly, this has been a really bad semester emotionally and physically...Being sick so much wiped me out and for some reason now one understand b/c for some reason profs think you can do it all!!!! What is with college profs????

If this is not some sort of joke post, I'm positive that med schools will not frown upon a B+ on orgo, especially looking an otherwise perfect transcript. People have gotten C's in pre-med classes and found their way to med school. If for some reason they do ask about this "blunder," just tell them the truth and I'm sure that it will not hurt you.

hey thanks for the post...
maybe i shouldn't have said anything but i just really needed to vent...my folks are going crazy with everything thats been going on lately, so I really don't want to bother them and my profs all think they are better then anyone else....and my buddies, they are dealing with a lot of personal problems right now, so I really cant vent to them!
anyway i just really needed to vent!

What are you, a gunner?

Dude, the only person that is going to get me into medical school is me!!! So, if working hard and doing everything I can makes me a gunner, then yeah I am and I'm proud of it... yeah I'll give ya I work too hard most of the time, but thats my fault!!!

Thats fine. I didn't mean to inflame. I just hope you never get a C or D, the word "suicide" comes to mind.

you're probably right. i have become way too cynical.

to the OP, i have gotten three interviews (one to a top 20 school) and two acceptances so far, and i totally screwed up my entire freshman year....and i mean, REALLY screwed up. i would have been thrilled with a B+ in orgo.

good luck 😀

Maybe I was a bit harsh. Honestly, you're grades are near stellar. If you are really dissatisfied with your grade in physics, you can always try appealing the class and see if the professor can drop the course. Being sick and having natural disasters can make anyones life more difficult to maintain. As an anecdote, a friend of mine scored lower than she expected, and had a grade of around a B/B- in ochem. Her parents were going through a divorce, which deeply affected her emotionally. She asked the professor if she could drop the class (way past the drop date) and he honored her wish. She took the class over and got an "A". Some professors are as soft as squashes and some are as hard as nuts, maybe yours will be flexible with your circumstances (don't forget to use the puppy dog eyes.)

Hey thanks a lot for the reply! I really appreciate it! I just think everything this semester has really put a damper on things and I don't know why. I shouldn't be complaining about my grades...I just think I really needed to vent!
I'm sorry if I offended anyone! I just needed a place to vent! Thanks so much for the posts!
