How do you guys remember the cephaloprorins and which generation they're in? I'm having trouble keeping them straight.

this is how it was in the CMMRS book

the first generation all have PH in their name minus ceFAZolin but dont let that FAze you.
1. cePHalothin
2. cePHapirin
3.cePHradine
4. cePHalexin

second generation
the FAMily is gathered wearing some FUR coats and your FOXy cousin is drinking TEa.
1. ceFAMandole
2. ceFAclor
3. ceFURoxime
4. ceFOXitin
5. cefTEtan

the third generation mostly have T in their names.

and theres only one 4th generation.. cefepime

Pearl: Among the 3rd gens, ceftazidime is used for Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections.
