If I apply next cycle (sending in APPS summer 2008 for the class of 2009) and don't get in, will I have to sign up for a masters program or something after graduating in 2009? If I did really well my senior year, can I just reapply for the 2010 class during my last college semester, and spend the following year shadowing and retaking the DAT (since my GPA would be higher anyways). Kinda confusing, so ill map it out.

Junior Year - Apply for class of 2009
Senior Year - Get rejected, REapply for class of 2010
1st Year after graduating- Work and Shadow instead of returning to school, wait for acceptance/rejection letter in winter for class of 2010

just work as hard as possible to strengthen your application then apply. Don't plan to fail already. the whole application process is not something you don't want to repeat.

hmm...sorry but this doesnt make much sense to me. so i DO want to apply, as the application process is something that i would want to repeat? that double negative is throwing things out of wack... so... apply now and reapply next year? or raise gpa and apply as a 5th year senior (during true senior year
).

haha, totally missed that double negative. Think 714guy is saying be optimistic, work hard, and apply only when you feel like your application will be competitive. To get an idea of what "competitive" means, just do some searching in the pre-dental forum here.

i'd say apply summer 08, see what happens. regardless, continue to do whatever (work, shadow, etc.). however if you do get rejection, definitely try to jump back into some courses/school or consider DAT retake. if you have to reapply, you want to bring more to the table that application cycle, unless your work/shadow is something stellar. good luck.

haha. Sorry about the double negative. I say apply if you feel your application is competitive enough. Get good DAT scores, finish off all your classes strong, and get lots of dental and volunteer hours. Good luck.

I agree, it depends on your status right now. If you need to improve a lot, then just take thing slow. It won't look good to apply many times.
