Hello all,

I am considering going the Health Policy and Management Track. I do not have any after-college experience as I plan on going to such a program right when I graduate. Which schools offer such a program for students straight from college? I have a 3.68 cumulative undergraduate GPA from a state school, so would I have any chance for schools such as Harvard?

Thanks!

At Harvard admission to the MPH program requires an advanced degree. The MS program requires 2 years of full time experience.

Schools I got into for Health Policy (or something similar) from right out of undergrad (with a similar GPA...albeit not from a state school):

Yale (where I go now), Michigan, U Washington, UCLA (Community Health Sciences), Pitt, Utexas Houston, Columbia

Schools I didn't get into:
UNC (but for HBHE, not policy), BU (got this app in real late...didn't really wanna go here anyway)

For MPH in Policy you can't apply to Harvard or Hopikins right from undergrad.

Thank you for the information guys.

Deem how are you enjoying the program at Yale so far? Also, was your undergrad major business related or more science oriented?

Thanks!

Deem 23, can you tell me when you submitted your app to BU? I don't know what defines "late". Do you mean you turned it in past BU's deadline or just extremely close to it? BU is my first choice for HPM and I am nervous about my chances. Thanks!

uwbadge: I love it at Yale. My undergrad major was not business related. It was kind of a split major thing we had at my school that combined biology and humanities. I did quite a bit of PH type stuff with it because of this flexibility. Other then some basic econ classes I didn't really have much in the way of business training or anything like that. So I guess your answer is I was half sciency, half humanities (anthro, soc, etc) and not really any business.

espre: Right. There are options right from undergrad, and obviously JHU is awesome, but I give advice thinking that people want an MPH and not an MS or MSPH (because well...thats what they are asking about)

ms newyear: Ha, by late I literally mean in February like days before the priority deadline. It was a weird decision and I'm not entirely sure, looking back, why I did it as I had gotten into other programs I liked already and BU wasn't too high on my list anyways.
