If I was offered this loan, it's a given that I should take it right? The only difference between this and a unsub. loan is that this is 5% and interest is not accrued during school? Am I missing something? I feel like I am missing something.

You want to get this loan, yes. It is the only graduate level loan that is subsidized, meaning you don't accrue interest while you are in school, and the interest rate is comparatively lower than other loan options. The only caveat is that each dental school has a limited number available to provide each year and your parents have to provide their information for FAFSA (even if you haven't lived at home for 10 years) and each loan is maxed out at $40,000 per year per student. It is provided for students who come from lower income families who have entered a heath profession.

If you are able to get the loan, do it!
