Hey everyone,

Is this real? I saw that people can now get their abfm prelim board result in 3-7 business days? but only if they have clearly passed or clearly failed.

has anyone gotten their results like this yet?

I'll let you know in a week or so. I'm taking the exam on Wednesday.

I took mine on 4/6 and just got the prelim email.

HI Im taking my FM boards in 3 days. How was it like? Any major subjects your recommend that was heavily tested? Was it similar to the ABFM In Training Exams. What module did you take. Im picking Ambulatory. Any tips thanks. Cant wait to be over with this.

It was all over the place, as usual. I picked the ambulatory FM module, so the whole exam was pretty much the same stuff. As before (this was my third time taking it), I walked out thinking, "Yeah, I could've failed that." I just hope my guesses were as educated as I think they were.

Do they give an actual score or just say pass/fail?

Mine stated Pass with official score and breakdown to be released in June. I believe per the email announcing the 3-6 business day notification that went out a few weeks ago, the options are pass, fail, or pending.

Agreed with what's been stated here and on other forums. There are percentage breakdowns of the topics and subjects somewhere on the ABFM interwebs if you really want to know the details, but with 3 days to go I wouldn't worry too much about that. Just study the areas that you feel weakest in or where you've struggled on in past examinations (ITEs).

As for the module, I picked obstetrics because my program does quite a bit of OB -- it was fairly easy, I felt like most of those questions were either gimme questions or reasonable enough to expect a family medicine physician to know. Good luck!

I took the exam last Wednesday, and got my preliminary results today (5 days later).

Asking for a family member who is freaking out, but they received a "pending review" on their preliminary test result. Anyone know what the chances of pass/fail when one gets this?

I got a Pending review as well. I would like to know.

Congrats to all who passed!

It just means that you weren't so far above or below the usual cutpoints to be guaranteed to pass or fail once all of their analysis is done. I'd remain optimistic, as most people pass the exam (although it probably would've freaked me out a little, to be honest).

Thanks so much. I'm hoping so too. I actually studied for it last few months. Although without taking an actual board review course, but with previous ITEs, Board review questions on aafp , and it's material , and med -challenger. But 10 years post residency, kids, and a full time practice, I am definitely rusty with exams.

Took the boards on 3/18//18 and just got word earlier today (5 days after the exam) that I passed! Woohoo!!

They didn't send me an email so I had to look on my Physician Portfolio on the ABFM website. There will be a link called "Exam Results" on the bottom right that will lead you to your score.

Anyways, I'm just glad 7 years of work have officially paid off! Good luck to everyone else in this process!

Took mine on the 19th. Still waiting to hear anything. What time of day did you all get the emails?

I actually didn't get an email at all. I checked my physician portfolio on the ABFM website and saw that it was updated at 2:30ish in the afternoon pacific standard time.

I took mine on the 19th as well. I kept checking all morning and had a result at 1:00 pm. I did receive an email 6 minutes later telling me my prelim result was available.

Anyone took it on 4/19/18 didn’t get results today???! Please I’m so stressed.

You should have results if you took it the 19th. I've heard from another resident they got results this afternoon. You may or may not actually get an email, so just look in your physician portfolio.\

Yeah well I checked already and Still says waiting

I took mine on the 19th, and I got my result today. I didn't get email first so I logged on to check. Preliminary result was there, then I got email after that.

Just to update you guys. I got my results today and took it on the 4/19/18. They had a glitch because the test was freezing at the end of my test. They flagged it which delayed the score reporting.
Best of luck everyone

Anyone out there still has pending review? I don't think I did that poorly on exam and I'm second guessing myself now. My test did freeze during exam and I forgot to click break after finishing one session. The countdown until mid-June for official report is killing me.

I have a pending review and I didn't think I did that badly either. It's my 1st re certification.

I have a "pending review" too. My anxiety is through the roof. My exam also froze at the end. My friends all passed...

This is my 2nd recertification. I have never failed before...I also have a "pending review". The wait is killing me!!!

Do we know what percentage of test takers get “pending reviews.” I’m assuming most get a pass rating. I suppose there will be a few fails. But anyone have an idea of the gray zone “pending reviews?”

Re: akadr321 and AANMD

Call Erik Tousseau at ABFM and inquire about your exam. There may be technical difficulties during or after exam (eg exam froze during your exam, uploading your answers and transfering over to ABFM) and your exam was flagged for thorough evaluation. Erik can tell you if you passed or not also.

Hi, thank you for this information. I have pending review as well. I called Erik and he is only able to inform us if there was an incident or your score was close to the minimum passing threshold. He is not able to tell us if we passed or failed. We have to wait till mid-June. Were you able to get pass/fail with a pending review. Stress is killing me too

Passed the boards!!! Waiting process was incredibly stressful! All FP physicians should consider donating to the practicing physicians of america gofundme site so we can end all MOC forever!! We shoukd not have to recertify every 10 yrs...total craziness!

I passed too! Waiting the last 2 months with the "pending review" has been ridiculously stressful!!! I agree with you---MOC needs to end

Got my score report today, I already got the email saying I passed a few days after I took the exam. I didn’t even bother to look at the score. Scores don’t matter anymore! I graduate residency in 2 weeks folks!

I look at it mostly just to see what areas I (relatively) suck in. I wasn't surprised (women, kids, and the kidney).
