Heart Attack Grill

i wouldn't mind visiting that place at some point, it's probably pretty delicious

thisiswhyyourefat.com = epic website

is it wrong if most of the food looks delicious?

The blame cannot be solely on the owner of the restaurant, in fact, I think more blame should be on the individual. The individuals promoting the restaurants clearly know the risk but they obviously don't care and are risk takers. I mean the guy at the end partaking in that greasy four patty abomination who had multiple heart surgeries even had the audacity to imply that it doesn't matter what his doctor or wife says to him has nobody to blame but himself. This really just go back to the whole whose to blame argument. Do we blame the ciggarette company for producing ciggarettes or do we blame the individual who smokes a pack a day knowing full well the incredible risks associated with it? Or do we blame the bar or the alcohol company who made the alcohol that caused some dude to kill someone in a DUI? Blame can't be solely on the company or the restaurant in this case. The individuals must also be able to face the consequences of their own actions.

Exactly. They're adults, they can make and take responsibility for their own decisions.

With that said, I've been meaning to give this place a try if I'm ever in AZ lol

That's how we do it in AMERICA. Land of the free and home of the fat. It's sad how that can happen when there are people starving elsewhere in the world.

I think that as soon as I hit an age where my body starts failing, I'm going to start pigging out on these foods. Seeing someone suffer from cancer, alzheimers, parkinsons, etc. is so much worse than a blissful heart attack which - lets face it - is basically a muscle cramp.

Obviously I'm joking, but only partially...

There is absolutely 0 blame for the owner here, because he is not misrepresenting his product whatsoever. Compare that to McDonalds that tries to play off their product as healthy or cigarette companies that claimed their product was not addictive. If anything, he's doing a service by explicitly stating that this food is bad for you.

One word...disgraceful, for the owner and consumer.

This also makes me feel sad to be American.

......I'm eating a salad for breakfast

I have partaked of the triple bypass burger, and as a burger connoisseur, I can vouch for the shear mind blowing proportions of the burger…though it does tend to leave one in a food coma after lunch.

To be honest, I think preferred their sister grill, the grill next door where the waitresses were dressed as catholic school girls versus the waitresses dressed as nurses.

do want

My BMI is 18.5 😎

ew. that's almost underweight. go eat some triple bypass burgers 😉

I just made the mistake of going to a BMI calculator. I'm in the upper half of normal (22.5) and as a retired athlete, I have a problem with this (NOTE: uber-critical = typical doctor trait). Sigh, I used to be so in shape...

Off to the gym I go. Okay, maybe tomorrow...

OMFG, that's gross. The grease dripping came close to triggering my gag reflex.

And yeah, blame lies primarily with the consumers. People need to be held accountable for their own fat asses.

I'd eat there, looks delicious. Only once or twice a year, though. Get off your high horses.

Does anyone remember (and preferably have a link to) that one "BBQ trend" where they take some sort of meat and do this bacon strip weave around the thing and then BBQ it? I think I read about it in the New York Times... A link would be appreciated.

I can't even quantify how disgusting that whole news piece is. However, as disgusting as it is to see a place that is advertising itself as "bad for you," you can walk into Chili's and see overweight people chowing down on 1200-plus calorie burgers... the only difference is the marketing.

Did anyone else notice that they played staying alive for Blair and then said 3 seconds later he died of pneumonia? This is such biased video; stupid fat idiots would be stupid fat idiots regardless of this place, he's just making money off their stupid fatness. They know obesity will kill them, that's their fault, not his.

The amount of people laughing and smiling, having a great time there is what sickens me. I actually exclaimed when I saw the children there in the end. What horrible parent would bring children to a place called the Heart Attack Grill?!!?! It's not funny.

Well that is a consequence of freedom. And I for one don't particularly want a goverment that controls how much/what food I am allowed to have because there are starving people elsewhere. Just saying.

If I work out four times a week, eat healthy, and take my vitamins, I should be allowed to go to places like this to eat a gross 1 pound greaseburger with bacon if I so choose. When did personal accountability go out the window? 🙄

At least the guy is honest enough to acknowledge that his food is unhealthy and make light of it.

I agree that we have the freedom to choose things as Americans. And obviously, no one is making these people eat that stuff. And, yes, at least the owner is being honest about his food being unhealthy.

I just think it is a sad commentary on our society that a business like this can be successful. And from an ethical standpoint I do think it is irresponsible when we have 2/3 of the country overweight or obese and you consider the tremendous rising health care costs due to obesity. If you don't think this affects you, think again. We will all pay for the additional costs of health care in the coming years and, as a physician, you'll be treating the complications of obesity for your entire career.

i think at the same time you need to accept people do what they want regardless of consequences. the older i get the more i realize people never really leave the 5th grade

Two days ago I held someone's freshly atherectomized arterial plaque in my hands. That is all.

Nothin' like a little job stability!

But no seriously I do agree with you, and while I don't think legislation is the answer, but I think education would go a long way towards stopping this epidemic.

This. As a physician, your job isn't to moralize or to pass judgment on your patients; your responsibility is to treat your patients and educate them about your health.

Lulz. I live in AZ but haven't been to this place yet. Some people I know have and they say it is disgusting to look around and see a bunch of fat people sucking down greasy burgers. Gross. Maybe I should go and shoot some photos for you guys 😉

It's a novelty restaurant...
They sell greasy food that looks a lot like all the other greasy food you can get at any other restaurant.

The difference is the portions and the 'spin' on the experience.

So what?

I imagine there are several customers that frequent the place and are obviously most likely going to be obese and [with time] they'll likely do at least a bit of clogging to some vessels...

How is that any different than the guy that goes to drink large portions at the bar every night destroying his liver?

Or the high portion chain-smoking mom that stops by the "cigarette world" to buy the delightful little cancer sticks every afternoon?

Or how about those one facilities where you lay down and get zapped with wild amounts of UV rays -- I'm sure the oncologists and dermotologists in 15 years will say: bababababa, i'm lovin it.

There are plenty of vices to go around for everyone.

EDIT: Also, for the record, unless it is a girl licking a sucker/eating a banana -- very rarely will watching a candid, close-up video of someone else eating render any other response than "ewww gross!"

^i see wut you did there. And yes, watching people eat (almost) anything is disgusting.

Also, as it pertains to this discussion, I'm just going to leave this here:

YES i was just describing this to people the other day, and it used to be harder to find i think so they were having to make do with my impersonations. love this skit!!

Um, how is this different from IN-N-OUT? They serve the same food: 4 x 4, fries, shakes, the whole she-bang.

We'll be at this point very soon. Freedom is good, but there are way too many idiots that will not refrain from indulging themselves with the worst substances imaginable.

I had a burger for lunch. I have wanted one for days... I must need more iron or protein. It hit such a spot, too. At least it was only about half the size of the single bypass burger. 😳

The amount of people laughing and smiling, having a great time there is what sickens me. I actually exclaimed when I saw the children there in the end. What horrible parent would bring children to a place called the Heart Attack Grill?!!?! It's not funny.

I think it is. Stupid people killing themselves by their own stupidity is hilarious. The only sad part is we're paying for their quadruple bypass surgery with our taxes.

That is where you and I will have to disagree. For me freedom is not just "good". It is one of my fundamental values and I am proud to live in a country where people die to protect my freedom.

I agree with the previous posters who mentioned an emphasis on education. Studies have actually shown that it is easier for children to learn to control their appetites and keep weight off than adult dieters. The truth is though some people even when educated still won't care...which is why people still smoke and go tanning even when they know it causes cancer. Are they stupid? Yes. I still don't think the government should have legislation that infringes on their personal freedom to be stupid. But meh that is just my opinion.

My mother-in-law had crazy hamburger cravings during her pregnancies. They kept like 30 burgers ready to go in the freezer and she would frequently wake up in the middle of the night craving one.

Ha! Hopefully, I won't wake up in the middle of the night needing to suck down a burger! I really want to gain a healthy amount of weight with this baby. I was good with Chicklet but given my pre-pregnancy weight I want to gain less this time. Thankfully, I think the only late night thing I had with Chicklet were a few bowls of cereal.

Your government collects taxes from you to pay for their stupidity. Besides, a healthy populace is a productive populace.

Even though I'm a pretty big health nut, I wouldn't mind a nice, juicy steak every once in a while. If you exercise enough, you can offset any unhealthy occasional meal. 😀

This joint was highlighted years ago on the Food Channel.
Yahoo is behind the times...
Yea I saw it on there before. It looks amazing. Yes, the owner is a total douche, but putting deaths on his conscience just because he sells unhealthy food is just stupid.

Also, the video had me at "hospital-themed Hooters."

Is it wrong that the food in the video has made me incredibly hungry. I could go for a nice burger right now.
