Hey all,
I was just going over my schedule for next term, and I'm thinking that I'm a little in over my head as far as the courseload goes:

-Introduction to Computing Science (w/lab)
-Molecular Genetics and Heredity (w/lab, only half term labs, though)
-Principles of Ecology (w/lab)
-Organic Chemistry I (w/lab)
-Psychology: Perception

Does this seem like too much? I know it's difficult to say because you guys don't know me personally, but do you think this is too much? Also, if anyone can suggest replacements (I would like to keep 5 classes in my schedule next term) for classes I listed, that would be great.

THANKS!

You are definitely taking way too many classes, and it looks like you are taking two upper division biology/chemistry classes along with a lab. My rule of thumb is to take 2 upper division biology/chemistry classes with 1-2 easier GUR/physics/math classes. Also at my school every lab credit is 2-3 hours of lab time. While regular classes are 1 credit=1-1.5 hours of class time. My lab classes were very challenging, they were twice the amount of class time and the same amount of homework as any other upper division biology/chemistry class.

My suggestions:

1. If you work don't even think about taking 5 classes, take 3-4, and substitute a biology/chem class with a GUR.

2. If you don't work you may be able to take 5 classes but you risk adversely affecting your GPA, if you absolutely have to take 5 classes substitute one chemistry/biology class with a GUR.

Hmm...OK.
Thinking I might swap one out for a medical ethics class...
Also, I know it's off topic, but can I finish my last prereq in spring term of my senior year?

I have taken simular loads and have done well... but it took all of my time during the semester studing.. My suggestion is to find a class that looks hard but is actully easy and replace it with one of our harder classes.

Again, alot of students pull the schedule you described but taht doesnt matter. It's what you can do. You only get credit for heavy loads if you do well... even then it seems like only a plus. I had to fix my GPA in an effective way so that was why I took it so heavy - if this is your first degree I say take it easy and just do 3.5+ each term - you're golden.

the problem with that schedule is not the classes... but the darn labs. From looks of it, your going to be spending about 10 hours each week JUST inside labs (ewwww)
