Hi everyone, What a great feeling to finally have a destination! I am a non-trad. student, long time medic, Master Sgt.in the Air Guard, and 14 yrs with the Post Office. I am a pt/night student, and this is goona be a culture shock I'm sure! I have an 11 y.o. son, and a lovely wife of 13yrs. Since we are older, I would love to know if there are any others like us...Class 2006, We are very excited to move in June, see ya soon!

I forgot to include we are attending the founding school in Kirksville. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" /> Thanks...

Hi Patch!
Welcome. I am sure many of your future classmates will post here soon, greeting you. But I just wanted to say hello too. Though I am not attending Kirksville, I just wanted to say welcome.

By the way, how would you say "medicine woman"? One of my ancestors was Cherokee, and though I don't know much about her, I was always very interested in her and wish I could have met her. So when I saw your signature, I just had to ask! Anyway, welcome!

Billie

Hi Patch!
I'm not attending Kirksville either, but will be down the road at UHS in KC. I am changing careers and have a 12-year-old.

I currently work for a community college as a public relations director, so I'll tell you what I tell the non-trads who start here...

You will only feel like you are "different" the first time you walk into the classroom because you think you will be the "only one." You'll be amazed at how many other people, just like you, will be sitting in class with you.

Good luck to you and your family!

- Tammy

Congrats Patch!
I will be attending UHS this fall. I have two foster daughters (7 and 5 years old), a 16 month old son, and will soon have a new baby later this week as well. I will be 26 this September, so I too, am in the non-trad category.

Good luck with school....should be fun!!!

Forgive the rookie, I didn't post a school! I loved all your comments, this is a unique resource. I am from Oklahoma, and almost everyone, including me have some Cherokee. The words for "medicine woman" are "nah woe tee
ah gay yah", pronounced like its spelled. Thanks for the shout, good luck my fellow non-trads... 😳

Patch,

I am glad to hear that I will not be the only military veteran at KCOM next year. I am 27 and have been active duty Army for the past four years (since graduation from college).

I am very much looking forward to the career change.

Ben

Hey Patch!

Just wanted to say congrats!!! Its an exciting thing and looks to be an exciting place to go to school. Yeah, I know, the town might be a little less then exciting....but for me, the people I have met so far make it an exciting place. 🙂

I am Wifty aka Rebecca and tend to post more then hubby....who is the actual one going to go to KCOM. 🙂 I have more time and this is something we are doing together...so I pop up. LOL

Anyways, we are a little non-trad....I am 32 and he will be 27. He worked and taught massage therapy before going back to school and he is currently finishing his BS. No kids...but that doesn't stop us from having Disney movies and Dr. Seuss books. 🙂

Anyways, welcome! I think there is a KCOM 2006 thread around here somewhere.....::hunting::

Hey Patch (cute name!)

I am glad to see you finally posting on here! The wife and I are looking forward to getting you moved up here this summer. But first, spend some time at the family reunion for us so that you can bring back pics since this is the first year we will miss!

WIFTY--

Patch is the one we were telling you about . . . you will meet soon enough!

Patch, Since you included your Indian name, here is mine:
