Thank you for posting this. I've been following Nathaniel's amazing story since Steve Lopez first started writing about him 5 years ago in the LA Times. For me, he represents so much of what we do and why we do it--the tragedy of mental illness derailing a talented young person; the inadequacy of our system that leaves so many homeless, penniless, and severely ill; and the extraordinary potential for friendship, creativity, and determination to help create connection and meaning in a life in spite of, or perhaps because of, mental illness.
