ok i just want to vent about secondaries...what the hell was the point of me submitting amcas if pretty much every school i sent it to is sending me a secondary!?!?! and then they have the balls to ask me the SAME questions as amcas did!!!! money hungry bastards...i guess i should be glad im getting secondaries, but its disappointing to see that med schools dont have the decency to at least check my gpa and mcat before they jump at the chance to screw me out of another $100.....ahhh better...

Certainly some schools do just want the money but I have to believe that some indeed want to learn more about their applicants before deciding whether to interview that person or not.

Once we're all in, maybe we can start an organization (or join one if it already exists) to push for a redo of this process, especially since you pay to input much of the very same information that you sent into schools through AMCAS. It seems like schools want to see how much bullsh*t they can put you through to weed people out.

One idea-- maybe they should just make AMCAS longer by having additional essays, so that schools don't have to send you a secondary. That way you could give them a better view of you than AMCAS presently allows and it helps you learn about yourself. Then you won't have to send in 15 different essays to different schools OR the fees OR your transcripts AGAIN. As for the costing, perhaps that could be on a graduated scale according to income, as many people don't qualify for the AMCAS fee reduction arrangement and can't get money from family.
