Can anyone explain about class 2 prep of both amalgam and inlay with exact numerical value? what is the exact depth or width of proximal box in mm unit? or some helpful tips in prep... I would be very helpful for all of us..

Preparation of Crown is well explained in the thread of Dr. Dai Phan...Thus, this thread is just for preparation of amalgam and inlay... Thank you!!

hi...
i don know the exact numerical values. the gingival should be just below the contact and regarding the width, the box should be extended buccally and lingualy to remove all the contacts with adjacent teeth. guys... correct me if am wrong.

the gingival seat should be ju below the contact

The gingival wall margin should extend below the contact or free to adjant tooth contact - depend on extend of the decay. Bevel on the margin should be place if the margin wall end on enamel - to removed unsupported enamel on 1/3 cervical - only for permanent tooth - not for primary.

The axial wall should be atleast 1 mm in depth (and of coz the gingival seat contact wid adjascent tooth should have been broken)

regarding how wide the proximal box should be , well it all depends on the proximal contacts.

I hope this helps.

And one important thing especially on amalgam prep, cavo surface margin on proximal should be 90 degree.
