What other schools should I apply to or remove due to OOS preference and stuff? Thanks for your help.

It's honestly getting late to apply to MD OOS schools, especially Texas. 0% chance at all reaches. With a 25, those chances dwindle even further. Save your money and apply to DO and local/nearby MD.

It's always hard to respond without a known MCAT score. I made myself wait until the night I got my score back because although my averages were 21-23, my actual score ended up being a 27. And your grades are borderline to low (MD) which makes knowing your MCAT score even more important.

If you really do get a 25 it's not looking great for MD, even with URM status... maybe a couple of nearby/in-state schools and the block of schools that are known for accepting large numbers of URMs.

DO is another story. Assuming you gave us your AMCAS GPA, it's possible your AACOMAS GPA will be a little higher. As it stands, your GPA is more toward the average. A 25 would still be on the weak side of acceptable here, but I think combined with your ECs and upward trend you'll have a shot.

And you know, take my advice with a grain of salt, particularly with regard to MDs. I don't know as much about the MD hierarchy as I do about DO (where my applications are focused).

Thanks for your advice Triage and Cooling. Anyone else have anything to add?

I should add that your supervisor is very wrong about UMich. They have a law against URM advantage, so you'd definitely be at the bottom of all applicants with your current stats.

BUMP

I'm starting to think so too! I looked at they're stats on MSAR and their website. Also, I have FAP, so I need 14 schools minimum.
