I got an interview invite at my top school (UT Austin). I was unaware there was a signup deadline though and unaware that there was only a week window open to sign up - there was a line of text in the email I got mixed in with the giant block of text so it's understandable that I would have missed that. I was also really busy the past week due to holidays and was on vacation the whole week and couldn't access internet, and also because my brother didn't get an interview, so my family and I were really stressing about that I just kind of missed the memo. I logged in today to sign up for an interview date to learn that the deadline had passed. I just can't believe this!! 🙁 I wished they would have emphasized it more in the email, such as putting it at the top, highlighting and bolding it.

I called in, but they're closed until New Years, but I sent in an email and am anxiously waiting a reply. Please please please, does anyone know if I still have a chance? Have they been lenient about this for holiday vacation reasons such as myself? I just can't fathom the idea of not getting in again this year 🙁

I am sorry to hear about your situation. Was this the only school you applied to? It's not too late to apply to the schools with Jan/Feb/Mar deadlines. The best advice I can give to you is call the school after the holidays and explain your situation.

Straight from UT's website. It's unfortunate, but they'll probably question why you acknowledged the email but didn't schedule the interview as soon as you got it. So be prepared with a well crafted but honest answer. Hope it works out you.
"Etiquette - Interviews are initiated and arranged by the college. It is the candidates responsibility to respond to the interview invitation promptly. In case of an irresolvable conflict, e.g. an employer will not give you release time; you should call the college immediately to discuss rescheduling your interview"

Ask, you may get lucky.

I can tell you, it isn't going to go well. Unless you do some major butt kissing, it is not going to go your way. UT doesn't mess around and if you miss a deadline, well that already looks pretty bad. I know a lot of people that go there 😉 and yeah it does not look good.

You may have to wait a year to get a chance again.

Well, if anyone was wondering, it went surprisingly well. They honestly didn't make much of an issue about it, it seemed. I just called them, they listed some available times and signed me up. All is good.

Lady Luck gave you a hell of a New Year present! Congratulations.
