With deposits coming up on 12/14, I need to make a decision soon... Can anyone share their experiences/opinions with any of these schools? Please share something more than "MD is better than the DO". I want to become a well-rounded doctor with great experience with peers, the community, staff, the clinic, research, etc.

PCOM-PA
Pros
  • OG 5 DO - great alumni network, good reputation
  • Location: Philadelphia - diverse patient population
  • Great clinical and research opportunities
Cons
  • Letter grades for pre-clinical curriculum
  • Tuition: 65K
  • Large class size: 270
Rowan-Virtua SOM
Pros
  • Great clinical opportunities - Virtua Health partnership
  • Received scholarship - cheapest tuition option
  • Teaching hospital access, publicly funded, access to local rotations, affiliated residencies
  • Focus on community service, diversity
Cons
  • Smaller network of clinical sites
  • Less urban exposure
  • Large class size: 270
Rush Medical College
Pros
  • MD program
  • Smaller class size: 140
  • Location: Chicago, IL
  • Strong teaching hospital - Rush Medical, Cook County
  • Focus on community service, diversity
Cons
  • Flipped classroom?? Idk if its pro/con
  • Not highly ranked MD program
  • Far from home/family & COLD

Not really sure where you are from, but Rush is a great school. I would 100% choose that over anything else on your list. They have multiple different training hospital location right next to campus with great research opportunities. If being close to home is more important to you then all will be fine

bottom tier USMD >>>>> USDO of any ranking (ranking for DO schools are kinda silly, they are all viewed equally unfavorable by PDs if you are looking for prestigious/competitive residencies)

Regardless of specialty and goals, MD >>>> DO. Unless you have a compelling reason to attend DO program for geographical or personal reasons, go to MD

Go to Rush and don't even think about it. Chicago can be a good city. Yes, it can be cold but that can also make you focus on your schooling. You will have a lot of opportunities. I would definitely go there.
