Hey guys and gals, I am looking for some help. The basics: NY resident, will be a senior at GWU, low 3.3 cGPA and BCPM GPA but with upward trend (3.5-3.6 last two semesters, will increase with easier senior classes), 31Q MCAT (11, 10, 10), lots of research and leadership, great letters. Applying to both DO and MD, do not care which, if I get into one I will go. Here are my schools so far:

Arkansas
GWU
Georgetown
Rosalind Franklin
University of Illinois
Louisville
Tulane, Michigan State
Albany
NY Medical College
SUNY Buffalo (by far my number one choice, I live in Buffalo)
SUNY Downstate
Stony Brook
Rochester
Toledo
Oklahoma
Drexel
Jefferson
Penn State
South Carolina
U of South Carolina
Vermont
Marshall
TCMC
UCF

Obviously I don't plan on applying to 25 schools, I am looking to apply to between ten and twenty, probably closer to twenty. Which schools should I remove from the list? AMCAS is ready to go, just picking schools now. I know my GPA will keep me out of a lot of schoosl, but I am looking for one acceptance anywhere, so I want to cast a wide net. Thanks in advance for the help.

Although I am far from an expert, I do know a few of the schools you can probably cut off your list right now. UCF is going to be very competitive still. I believe last year(thier first class), they took around 40. This year I have read around 80? Plus, with your OOS residency and the competitiveness of their applicants I wouldnt bother.

Another school would be University of South Carolina. They are not very OOS friendly, and unless you have some great tie to the state I wouldn't bother here either.

Cut the following, unless you have some undisclosed ties to the state and schools:

Arkansas
University of Illinois
Louisville
Oklahoma
South Carolina (is this DO or diff from below?)
U of South Carolina
Marshall

Add the following:

EVMS
SLU
Creighton

for a net reduction of 4 schools...why is it "obvious" you won't apply to 25 schools?...honestly, you need all the chances you can get...do not skimp on apps...not sure what your total is now, and with my changes, but you should apply to a minimum of 20 schools...and 25 is not too many...

Edit: just did the math in my head, and with my changes, you will have 20 schools...I believe that is the minimum for you, and a much better list than your original, too...good luck
