Help for my application for UPenn

Guys,

I called the Upenn dental school office today since I never received any notification letter from them after I sent in my application 2 months ago. Guess what? I was told that my application is incomplete: they are still waiting for my TOEFL and part 1 scores. I had both scores sent at least two and half months ago. I called ADA again to make sure there was no mistake. The rep said the part 1 was sent on 6/8/04. If my memory is correct, I got a confirm letter for my TOEFL score around the same time. I started to wonder what my 50 dollars application fee for? Is there anybody encountering similar problems? Any suggestions on what I need to do next? The office lady asked me to call back this Friday and I really doubt they will do anything before this Friday. I just simply don't want my case slip away. Please give me your input so I can make my best shot to them. Thanks

Sorry about that...I guess you should have called them early to find out whether your application was complete..But anyway why would they say that? 😱 ..I guess they gave you the wrong information..call them on friday & let us know abt it

does upenn send a confirmation letter to all applicants stating whether their application is complete?

hey if you have proof that your toefl and NDBE scores reached on time they better call you for an interview...

Just call them again and tell them that you have received a confirmation from NDBE and Toefl and you can fax it to them if they want.

Are u telling that u requested additional score reports of toefl & nbde to be sent to school before 2 months. but they have sent it only on 6th of aug?

I was wondering why would they take 2 months to send the scores to school?
Is it not possible for them to send it early I mean as soon as we request? 😕
Somebody who has experience pls clarify 😕

as far as i know upenn doesnt send confirmation letters to say the appli is complete. they dint send me one anyways.

the best you can do now is to call ada and toefl and see when your score reports were sent.

speak to a person other than the one who helped you the other day at ADA- ADA tends to make lots of mistakes and sometimes a diff person tells u a diff story!!! i experienced that when i asked them to send both part 1 and 2 scores. they sent only part 1! they even sent a different persons score report to me when i asked to send me a copy!! worse comes to worst, call ADA and ask to speak to dr kramer- tell him your problem and he will transfer u to the person in charge of whatever needs to be done. (this will most probably be ms. mcnaughtons or ms. goings).

toefl score reports have a list of univs they sent the report to. so u can fax that copy with the list to upenn and request them to check their records again.

work on it fast as time is of the essence!

Thank you for you guys help. I faxed a letter to the officeyesterday, telling them that both my TOEFL and part 1 exam were sent by early June. I also called and the lady confirmed that they have my TOEFL and part 1 scores so I am in good shape now. The lesson to me is I should always double check. It is my application, not theirs. Anyway, I really appreciate for you guys help. What a great forum it is.

how long does it take the ada to send the part 1 and 2 scores to the schools?can we call them and ask them to send the score reports directly to the schools like we can do for toefl or do we have to fill the form and send money order and wait for them to send it.if the phone facility is available please let me know as it is quicker.I sent Loma linda my nbde scores by filling the form and sending a money order in july and today i got a confirmation letter about application but they say that they haven't recieved the NBDE scores.any info regarding sending nbde scores in a quicker and reliable manner will be appreciated.

i think u can ask for score reports to be sent only by mailing them the form and the money order. u can fax a letter saying that u have sent it out to them so that they act on it as soon as they receive it. as far as i know they send out reports once a week or so.

what i think is first send them the notorised copy of all ur documents including toefl and ndb.once u r accepted in that school then u can request ADA orTOEFL to send the scores directly to the school which u r interested .Icalld the schools and this ok with them.

I would like to know if UPenn application requires a statement of purpose along with it on a seperate sheet .I could not find anything about SOP in the application for UPenn although every school asks for it.

Yes, I have the same question. And I also didn't find anything about Letters of recommendation. Doesn't UPenn requier them? Antbody knows?

I dont know about the letters of recommendations, but i do know that they definitely require a statement of purpose according to cathy at the international affairs office. Its best to complete the package and send else they table it for later.

When i spoke to her today she adviced me to send the statement in with the application..but if she categorically told you that "your application is complete" then i guess you need not worry. Best to send an emial...to double check..!

They don't mention sending in the SOP or the reco letters anywhere in the checklist....Thanks for letting us know...will send them ASAP.

i have been called for an interview at upenn in mid september and i sent in an SOP and letters of recommendation. if u have these things already, i dont see any harm in sending them along. it will only help especially if u have good recos and a great SOP.
