I was hoping to get some feedback on people's opinions about my chances of getting in optometry school next year...

GPA currently is 3.0 and just got a 340 AA and 340 TS on the OAT...BUT with a 400 in Orgo =) and nothing lower than a 300 in any section..

i'm heavily involved in extracircicular activities, been on a dance team for 4 years (started my own dance team this year actually), on many committees of which i've had board positions...shadowed a geriatrician, and will be shadowing 2 optometrists this summer everyday (and will be getting recs from them along with 3 others i already have)...

i also have >140 credits and still have one more year to go, and biology major with a minor in health policy and administration.

What are you thoughts about my chances? and what schools do you think i'd have a better chance of getting into?

any feedback helps! thanks in advance!

If your GPA has trended upwards and you've done well in upper level courses, you likely have a good chance.

If you're GPA has consistently hovered around 3.0 for your entire career, your chances are not as good.

But either way, a borderline case like yours, you should always apply. Let the schools reject you. Don't reject yourself.

I think you have a good chance with your OAT/activities. Even though your GPA is not as high, the other ones might make up for it - your degree might help as well. If you are invited for interview, then that definately helps as well. You also have a chance to write a very strong personal statement stating why you want to be an Optometrist.

I think you should apply to any school you want and see what happens.
