hi,

can you guys give me some advice. i'm currently taking princeton review class to prepare for mcat in april. so far, i've taken 3 dia tests and i've been getting 6 bio, 5 physical science and 3 on verbal. i still have like 2 more dia tests before the real test.

do you think i should take the real test this august or wait till april and take it. has anyone have similar scores like me and improve up to like 7 or 8 on verbal. please give me some advice because i'm really scare and nervous.

thank you so very much
kate

Base your progress on AAMC items only. Tests from companies should be used for practice purposes only, and not diagnostic. Try an AAMC exam (like 3-6).

Do you mean you are taking the test in August and you want to wait until April?

sorry, i meant if i should take the test this august or wait till april. i'm currently a 4th year at a university

If you have yet to sign for the august test, you are out of luck -- the deadline has passed. But if you have, a 3 in verbal (whether on corporate exam or not), is, I am certain, unsatisfactory. There is certainly plenty of time from now until April to see big improvements in verbal if it is a serious weakpoint, but if you have spent the recent months and weeks with lacking success in this area, best you skip out and wait till next time.

good luck

Kate,
Read the email about Suzy Q and how she went from TPR 16 to a 32. Although I am not saying that you should or should not take the test, I am convinced that hard work is not the only key to success. Don't get too apprehensive before the test....monitor your anxiety (I know it's hard). . . dont' take it under timed conditions (try one TPR test like that) and see if it's really the material that's causing you difficulty or timing/anxiety issues.

If you are not getting atleast a 25-27 on the tests in the last week, I would hesitate from taking it. Then again, it's completely your choice.
Good luck!!!

Kate,

Yep, as Tweetie mentioned I went from a 16 to 32. I am taking PR and on the first 3 PR diags I got 16's. I just took AAMC V last Saturday and got a 32. So dont base what you can do with the company tests.....take an actually AAMC test and you will see where you really stand. Supposedly people get similar scores on the real MCAT that they got on AAMC V. Good luck.😀 I agree that attitude and confidence is very key when taking the MCAT.
