:scared:NBME 4 just kicked my butt

I had gotten a 221 2 weeks ago on #1
I jumped up to 238 1 week ago on #2 and I was so excited

Today I just took #4 and back to 221, this test was sooooooo hard and I have only one week to go, so many questions that just blew my mind away, and the worst part is I dont know what I got right or wrong....I need help, basically it said I was mediocre in everything except Muscoloskeletal, respiratory and renal (with 2 of these being what I thought I was weak in). So what do I do?

Basically what I am asking is if #4 is just that hard or am I just screwed with the test being in 1 week?

and by the way I hate First Aid, I feel like the book has taught me nothing, I just keep adding stuff to it and fixing errors.....I wish I had used something else

well there's always NBME3 to see if 4 was a fluke.

really, there was no reason to take NBME4 after you had a good score. Why run the risk of ruin so close to the exam? I took one practice exam about midway through my studying and I was satisfied with the score. So why take another? you can't view the answers so there is little to learn from the exam (besides all those 'repeat' questions people always claim about here). just stay confident and know that your score range is still very good. go crazy this last week and memorize FA like a madman. this last week is crucial so keep your head on straight.

Great advice that I followed to a T 😀

I think you are going to be just fine. I would try to focus on the mindset that allowed you to do so well on the one NBME form. I think it's rather like being able to slam dunk...there are going to be times when you brick it, but the important thing is that you have shown you can do it. You slam dunked an NBME, shown you can do it at a high level, and will be fine. If you'd never been able to get to that level though, then I would be slightly more concerned about reaching your goal. It's a lame analogy, I know.

I have heard stories from my friends who have taken nbmes and then the exam, and it's common to hear about doing really well on an nbme, then getting a little lax with the next one, then killing the test or next nbme. Just relax and remember to breathe during the test. Also, I recommend ear plugs or, at least recreating the actual test environment to correlate with what you did on your nbmes.
