HELP? I need some advice please

First, we need your overall GPAs, both science and nonscience. Right now it sounds like science is going to be really low. A masters program will not help a low undergrad GPA. Your application would be better off if you retook the classes you did poorly in, as well as additional upper levels.

My rough figures suggest that you're at about 3.41 right now, and that after another year of 4.0 grades you could be at 3.55. Not too bad.

Since you got a higher grade in the second course of the OChem and Physics series, you don't HAVE to retake. But if you didn't understand the material well enough to do well on the MCAT, you should retake. You still need to redeem the negative effect those Cs had on your GPA and BCPM GPA, but getting As in other upper-level science classes will accomplish the same effect.

A traditional masters degree will not make you a better candidate for med school unless you need the opportunity it would offer to gain research and teaching experience. And you can get those other ways.

Thank you for the replies. I do have a gpa slightly above a 3.4 and I will have at least that this semester (hopefully anyway). I do not need the research experience from a master's program as I am already doing undergraduate research over the next year.

Doesn't medical school average the grades when you retake a class? So I would most certainly have to get an A in order for it to be worth it correct?

Allopathic med schools average in retakes just as if you'd taken a new class. And yes, you'd need an A to get the greatest impact from the retake.

Osteopathic med schools only count the most recent grade when you retake, BTW.
