final year of UG GPA = 3.7

I am doing a postbacc/masters at Barry University, and I am submitting secondaries now for fall 2006 to go to medical school. Is it unrealistic that I will get in for fall 2006? The program is a 1 year masters, and I was told some schools will definitely wait for your first semester grades from the masters, but I'm worried that I'm going to have to wait till 2007...
I applied to 25 schools...

What do you guys think?

Take a bit of advice from what Confucius has to say down below..

2006 or 2007, either way, you WILL get into med school. So dont worry.

J,

A priori enquiry about the 'realistic merit' of the matriculation dream in this year's cycle is not a fruitful question (at this point). After all, an a posteriori answer will come in due course (especially as US schools tend to be much quicker with interview/rejection issuance). As demoralizing and enervating as the application process can be, you must simply submit your applications as early as you can, get the best letters you can muster, and hope your MCAT scores can get the job done given this year's applicant pool. A 32 is generally regarded as a 'sure thing' for admittance (albeit as a NECESSARY but NOT SUFFICIENT criterion...keep that in mind) to the preponderance of US medical schools. Keep your chin up and keep submitting secondaries. Before long, the admissions committees themselves will be telling you whether or not the dream will be realized this year.

As helpful as the SDN community is, few among us know the true m.o. of those admissions cabals. Whether the post-bac grades will put you in a separate rubric of applicants is something likely governed by the singular, arcane policy of each of the 25 schools to which you applied. All this being said, I can't make any predictions for you. In conclusion, quit being a sass-bag and apply to Northwestern already.

LOL, it's because he knows me, and is trying to get me to apply to northwestern. If you load him up with beers he gets more interesting, I promise 😉

Are you the Rahul that went to Barry? Dumb question, I know, there are probably a lot of Rahuls, but it's worth a shot...

If your masters grades are that important, either don't send your secondary apps in untill early Dec. or contact the admissions dept. when you are offered an interview and ask if you can interview in late December or shortly there after, they will understand and it can only help your chances provided you do well in grad school and provided they do not accept on a rolling basis. 😎
