Hey everyone!
Im not sure if Im posting this in the right place, so feel free to move it if its in the wrong forum.
So late last week, my AMCAS got verified and the only thing that was left to complete the app was the LORs. My authors finally submitted the LORs to interfolio and I sent them to AMCAS over the weekend. Today I waked up to 15 emails from the AMCAS telling me that they have received the letters. I was confused as to why I got 15 emails when I only had 6 letters on the app. So I called the AAMC to see if their email system had a glitch, and the AAMC told me that they received duplicate letters from interfolio for each author (for example, I requested interfolio to send letter A once, but they sent it three times to AMCAS). So now, on the AMCAS system, it looks like as if all my authors wrote me multiple LORs that are identical (for example, it looks like professor A wrote me three letters, but they were completely identical). These letters are now on file, and the AAMC said that they cant do anything to change it because my app has already been verified 🙁 so what will happen now is that the duplicate letters will go to each school I assigned them to (so if I assigned three letters to one school, that school will now receive like 11 letters, with half being duplicates). I asked the AAMC to speak to a manager, and they said someone will call me in the next 24 hours.
Im not really sure what to do in this case, and Im low key starting to freak out. I worry that a school will get like 15 LORs (and yes, looking at the numbers, one school could get that many), and end up ignoring all my LORs because there are so many of them. I also worry that sorting this out will create too much work to the admission committee which will reflect negatively on my application and impact my chances at an interview.
Has anyone had a similar problem to this ? are there any suggestions ? the only thing I could think of was to call each school I applied to and notify them of this error (but even then, its very possible that this note will slip through the cracks and wont get to the ad com by the time they are reviewing my app).
Let me know if u have any questions
Thanks
