Hey,

Just got my MCAT score today and I'm not very pleased.

I've already submitted AMCAS and have been verified. I can begin submitting secondaries today.

AMCAS GPA: 3.52
AMCAS sGPA: 3.56
MCAT: 27R

NYS Resident - Applying to schools in NYS, Boston, Philly, D.C. and Chicago

I've done a clinical research project, I'm currently working on a bench research project (to be published), over 100 hospital volunteer hours, over 200 hours volunteering at other medical facilities, long-term paid employment (non-medical), medical mission trips abroad (all Spanish-speaking countries), helped lead a group therapy session (underserved, Hispanic teens), shadow in a clinic (underserved women), a minority medical club, other non-medical clubs at school. Also, I have a full merit-based scholarship at my college, a strong committee letter and a very strong personal statement.

I am Hispanic, which is why I've mentioned that I have done my volunteering/mission trips to benefit the Hispanic community.

I'm not sure if I should withdraw my app and try again next year...
Thanks for the help.

EDIT

Catalystik, please advise, I'd really love to hear your input.

How many schools have you applied to already? Did you just submit your app to one school while you waited on your MCAT, or did you already apply to your full school list?

You have a much better shot than the general applicant due to your URM status and dedication to helping the underserved. My vote is to proceed with the application process if you're not too picky about getting in to a top school. This advice is based on my personal opinion that it is not too detrimental to your future chances to be a reapplicant.

I applied to my full school list. I am considering withdrawing from some of the top schools. I am not concerned with getting into a top school, but I would like to stay in New York. Also I will be fully complete within 2 weeks.
