I am definitely NOT going to specialize so i just need to do well enough to pass the Part 1....HELP!!!! Where should i concentrate my time? I took some time off (ok a lot of time) between undergrad and dental school so i have never been taught a lot of the material i am coming across in the deck and practice exams that people coming out of undergrad have covered ($h*t i wouldn't be surprised if they didn't even know all these biochem pathways when i was back in school). The d-school that i go to concentrates on clinical dentistry so much of the material on the Part 1 isn't covered. PLEASE HELP!!!!

What school do you go to?

And your best bet would probably be to just put in the time and drill the material into your head. Extreme dedication and persistence now will somewhat make up for lack of preparation in the past.

Anyone have any helpful suggestions?

I am looking for say a list of most commonly asked diseases/conditions? Common TMJ questions? Commonly asked anatomy questions/conditions?

I am not worried about the dental anatomy and occlusion bc we have been working on patients since sept of second year so that stuff comes easy...but i could really use some recommendations for the other sections.

I've noticed alot of TMJ questions, i.e. ligaments of, movements of, vascular/neural supply. Anything head and neck anatomy is fair game. Mine wasn't too difficult, innervation and vascular supply is a must know in the head.

Its not hard to pass, its hard to do well...go through the decks (i got through them in ~2.5 weeks), first aid, and as many released exams you can get your hands on. Good luck!

I just passed part 1 a few weeks ago and I couldn't really tell you where exactly to focus your studying because the questions were on spread out over all topics. What i can tell you is that I went over the dental decks 3x, went over notes that I had taken from Kaplan Review Notes, I went through Mosby and did the practice exams at the end of each section and lastly I did about 10 old exams including 3 exams from CrackTheNBDE. I studied for about 4.5 months but really focused hard my last month. I think you should do as many old exams as you can get your hands on because they were really helpful. Good luck!

Collagen Collagen Collagen it is so important and many questions on structure and metabolism
