I'm finishing my Ph.D soon and want to go to dental school as soon as I can.

I did my undergrad in the UK. UIC (#1 choice) stipulates applicants must have attended a US or Canadian undergrad college.

UIC suggested I simply take 90 credit hours at a US college to gain acceptance. I simply can't believe this is true.

I realize this question falls between categories but I figured someone in dental school must know of a foreign educated (undergrad) student. Did they re-take most of their classes in the US to gain entrance?

I would really appreciate your responses, as I am feeling pretty low about this newfound barrier. I'm committed to attending dental school in either '07 or '08.

Thank you for your help.

we have an engineer in our class that did his degree in Iran. i think the only courses he took in the united states were the pre-reqs

now you said you finished your PhD here right?? -- how many credits is that?

i've heard of an engineer too, in a senior class many years ago..he had to do the same..clear all pre-reqs and he was accepted..clearing pre-reqs may also help you in your DAT i guess..
ps: i also heard that he was one one the brightest guys of their class!

I can't help you getting admitted, but advise you to finish your PhD if you're close to being done, and for the depression seek medical treatment before it becomes worse.

Well thank you for all your responses.

I guess I'll have to (re) do a few classes. Oh well. I initially thought I would have to do a full 90 credit hours worth; but I'm pretty sure it'll just be 4 classes. And yes, I expect I'll benefit from it.

I'm near the end of my Ph.D, which has been counted as 37 hours of GPA grades and 180 of pass/fail. This is a very modest estimation of the real amount of time as we are only allowed to sign up for 12 hours research a week. 12 hours equates to a day and a bit a week, a far cry from reality.

Thank you all.

PS. I was using depression figuratively, but thanks for your concern.
