Hello all - (sorry if I have posted this in the wrong place)
I have to do a presentation at short notice on "what factors contribute to the limited life of a manual toothbrush and what measures may be taken to extend its life through suitable material selection and bristle design".
This presentation is controlled more by the dental materials department and material selection and bristle design is important. From my research I think a soft, cross angled, multitufted brush, tapered brush is better - (Is tapered better than end rounded?). As hard bristles cause increased abrasion I thought soft would be preffered - but do hard bristles work more effectivly at removing plaque? Do they last longer - which would you prefer - What is the best design of brush???? In terms of material selection I thought nylon/nylon polyester blends are used but what alternatives are there and whats the pros and cons?? Whats the best to extend the life of a manual brush???
I was also wondering if material selection and design on the handle and head of the brush is important - are longer handles better? What plastics are used? Is a flexible head better?? A small head is better to use??? More tufts the better???? Sorry for the long txt - this is short notice and i cant access a lot of journals right now plz help.... 😱 😱 need help on it all cos i have 2 present it soon.......
