Hi! Super grateful to be have A from those two schools. Right now I have slight preference to RVUSU, but would still like second opinions from the community! Thank you all for the help!
KCU-Joplin
Pro:
- KCU has better reputation than RVU (?) since it's not for profit
- More established
- Core rotation sites are in the areas where I'm interested (San Jose, Denver and Palm Spring)
- Have two major healthcare systems in Joplin
- Pretty decent match list
Con:
- Far from Cali
- Medical lab scientist program there is expensive for my partner so very unlikely she would go
RVUSU
Pro:
- Utah is pretty
- Climate is nice and something I'm used to
- Core rotation sites are somewhat in the areas I'm interested (Salt lake city)
- Utah tech offers a reasonable priced MLS program for my partner, so she can move with me
- Pretty decent match list
Con:
- Stigma of for-profit university (?)
- No major hospitals in the area, except a VA hospital
In conclusion, I prefer RVUSU because of the location and program for my partner. When I looked up both school's match list, they seem to send about the same ratio of students into competitive residencies comparing to non-competitive residencies, so I'm assuming the quality of education for both institutions are about the same. Any input would be appreciated!
