Hi everyone, long time lurker here. I have acceptances to two wonderful schools and need to decide between them with deposit deadlines approaching. I have read other DMU vs KCU threads but still can't seem to come to a decision.
The biggest back-and-forth for me is that DMU seems to shine more during years 1&2 with a chiller curriculum and more research, whereas KCU seems shines more during years 3&4 with better/more stable rotations. Any advice is appreciated!
- DMU
- Pros:
- Seemingly more research opportunities (specifically in neuroscience)
- Fantastic & stable board pass rates
- Closer to family & friends
- Cons:
- Rotations seem very hit-or-miss (biggest con for me, I’m worried about not getting a year-long site with their lottery system)
- Larger class size (~220)
- Slightly more expensive
- Pros:
- KCU-Joplin
- Pros:
- Better rotations, seems like most students can get year-long sites at Freeman/Mercy in Joplin, or in other areas of Missouri
- Smaller class size (~160)
- Slightly cheaper
- Cons:
- Much further from home
- Declining board pass rates?
- Fewer research opportunities
- Pros:
