Hey guys,
I have a few questions that I would really appreciate help with
I am an American FMG, from a school that is known well enough in some American hospitals that is sents 1 or 2 of its students to prestigious residencies every year(radiology, orthopedics, even neurosurgery). I am not on the islands.
Anyways, I am finishing up my 3rd year here, and will need to apply for subI's and electives in the States for 5 months during my 4th year. Naturally, being on this part of the forum, I want diagnostic raadiology. My step 1 is 250, I have a few publicatios from research that I have done before med school. My clinical grades are pretty good so far. The question that I have is this: which hospitals should I choose to do my rotations in the States to maximize my chances of matching at these places, assuming they like me enough. Basically, which places would not disregard me automatically because of my FMG status. Which hospitals have traditionally accepted FMG for Radiology?
Also, would it be useful for me to do my first rotation at some powerhouse like UCSF/Columbia... not to attempt to get in there, but to try to get a letter from someone well known, and then move on to other hospitals with that letter.
Thank you for your advice,
anything is appreciated, I need to apply for my away rotations soon🙂
