I recently got approved for fap. According to the message aacomas sent me, the fee waivers have a 45 day expiration date. I am taking the MCAT on august 1, and the waivers expire before my test scores comes out. Should I apply to the three schools now or should I apply to one school and get verified first?

I don't think FAP has anything to do with AACOMAS - FAP is for the MD apps and MCAT.

I think you should apply to 3 schools that way the fee waiver is applied. The 45 day period does not apply to waiving of secondary application fees, but each school handles it differently, usually just an emailed copy of the approval. I saved the screen as a PDF with my AACOMAS ID visible. Also it is good to apply right away as it takes some time to verify transcripts, where as sending your MCAT score is about 2-3 day process.

Oh ok, absolutely use those waivers. Apply to three schools you know do pre-MCAT holds.

Apply to all the schools you want to apply to, unless you believe you'll bomb your MCAT. In that case, apply to all 3 so you don't waste your waiver.

hey from the day you sent out the paper, how long since then does it take to approve the waiver?
I plan to submit my application in 4 weeks but I do not know if the waiver will make it in time.

For the DO waiver, it took less than a week for mine. For FAP, it took about two days.

this is for the DO waiver, so the "less than a week for you" is this cycle, correct? I just mailed out my waiver with the SAR with 0000 EFC so hopefully it gets processed within a week.

i heard the secondary fee is waived largely, so hope this is correct as well!

Thanks!

Yup! I mailed mine on the day they started accepting them and it was granted very quickly. Not even a week. You will definitely be eligible with that EFC (same as me)!

so you just printed out your SAR from fafsa? then they just grant without asking for the tax returns?.....lol the instruction on the website is so confusing because they combine like 5-6 scenarios and not specifying which one is which

I got mine approved within ten days. I sent my SAR only and signed each page.

signed each page? is the SAR already signed electronically at the end though?
because they said to only print out the SAR, I did not sign anything on there.

I just made sure I signed everything just in case. I don't know if it was necessary but I did it anyways.

They have specific directions in the handbook that state to sign each page.

When It is received it took me four days to get approved

Anyone know the price of the fourth school? Is it the $195 that a person without the waiver would have to pay for their first school or is it the $35 that you pay following the first school?

With fee waiver, each additional school after the first 3 schools is $35. I believe it says this in the AACOMAS manual and you can double check yourself.

All the manual says is "To apply to one additional college, you must pay the standard AACOMAS fee for one college." The wording was ambiguous and I couldn't figure out which price they meant. Thanks! That's what I wanted to hear.

Ok, for AACOMAS fee waiver app:
Mailed: 5/8/14
Received: 5/14/14
Approved: 5/14/14

So like 6 or 7 days total. There was a weekend right after it was received, so that probably slowed it down a bit. Still not very long at all. FAP took me literally 2 days, if anyone is looking for info on that.

My experience for the AACOMAS fee waiver app:
Mailed: 6/2/14
Received: 6/5/14
Approved: Still waiting on approval

My app is complete and ready to submit, I hope it doesn't take too much longer.

I JUST received an email letting me know that my AACOMAS fap has been approved.

Mailed: 6/2
Received: 6/5
Approved: 6/9
