Hey Guys, so I am a Canadian applicant looking to apply to D-school this june for the 2011 cycle.

My first year of university (when i took most of the pre-reqs) was not to hot but I just graduated so before i have time to go back and redo them to get above a C im wondering which schools dont require you do have a minimum of a 'C' in all pre-req courses. (i do have some reasons to back up my bad 1st yr..dont know how strong they are (ill family member) & if that will make my PS a big enough difference.

I have a cGPA of 3.3, top two years, 3.7 (so upward trend). DAT: AA:18, PAT:19, RC: 18...where do i stand a chance?

Also, if i absolutely have to redo the preqs i have to do them over this summer, fall AND winter due to the timing in which my school does offers them. Two of them I can take until winter so they wouldn't be complete until April 2011..is that too late? will be application be on hold until then :|

I believe most if not all dental schools require you to have a minimum of a 2.0 in the pre-req classes.

This is an excerpt from the NSU dental school webpage:
"Students must have earned a grade of 2.0 or better in each of the following required courses"

Your DAT score is evenly distributed across the board but to be competitive I would generally say a 19-21+ is far more preferable.

What is your sGPA? Dental school takes both cGPA and sGPA into consideration and I'm not sure how much your cGPA/sGPA would increase from retaking those pre-reqs on the AASDAS coursework calculations.

I would take a look at dental SMP programs such as UMDNJ-Newark MBS, NSU MBS, BU MAMS (oral track) and Tufts MBS to name a few to improve your chances of US dental school admissions.

How many of your Pre-Req's are "C" or below? If almost all of them, than i would not apply this cycle and try for next cycle. During the time you are re-taking the pre-reqs you should study for the DAT and try and get 20+ AA.

My thoughts are that you will probably do better on the DAT if you are taken the pre-reqs at the sametime (good refresher)
