Hey guys, I posted a thread awhile ago but it never took off. I am ending the near end of my DAT studies and I'm still struggling with pattern folding. The advice I took from SDN about the line of symmetry technique was incredible, and increase my hole punching scores quite a bit. I am looking for the same advice for the pattern folding section. I am a complete noob, and I don't know how to do them well. HELP! :scared::scared:

The only "trick" there is, is to look for a unique face and follow it through the folds. Other than that idk what to tell you :-/

Practice, practice, practice with the aim to get a feel for what folds do what. I identified which shapes and patterns often confused me and made a cut out. I would mark which sides came into contact with the sides that were often hard to imagine. For example, the cube patterns that were arranged like a staircase. Until I mapped it out for myself it was hard to imagine on the fly how the patterns will be oriented in relation to each other when the edges come together.

If you have DATBootCamp PAT, the explanations there for pattern folding are incredible. I had trouble with it, but the explanations helped me big time. It just clicked after I read them.
