I am still finishing up my personal statement. I feel that the more I write, the more I lose confidence in writing it. I am getting so nervous 🙁. Can someone send me their winning statements so that I can read and learn from them?
Thanks,
Ka

I wrote what I thought was a horrible first draft, and after 2 professors, my aunt, a fellow SDN member, and boyfriend critiqued it several times over, I ended up with something that I am quite proud of.
I know what you mean. I've read mine over so many times, I feel like I'm going cross-eyed. My advice is to take a break from it (a day or two or three) so you can come back to it with fresh eyes. I also find that I have more patience to read it over and edit it carefully then.
You're so lucky to have so many people critique your essay! I'm glad you finally got a result you're happy with.
I'm kind of stuck with who to ask. I'm the only fluent English speaker in my family, so the fam is out. I have a professor and mentor who I could ask but since I've already bombarded them with recommendation requests, I feel terrible asking them for the extra favor, as I know they are very busy. I had a few good friends look it over and they've offered some helpful advice but I still feel unsure since they are coming from a different background. As a result, if anyone here at SDN can offer some time/advice, it would be much appreciated! 😀
I believe hamsterpants was offering to trade personal statements for mutual critique and evaluation - check with her.
I am. Thanks for the set up 😉

My statements are done and submitted, but I don't mind reviewing other people's. Hamsterpants can give me a reference. 😀
