hello, everybody, i'm new here, nice to see you all. 🙂 🙂 I have practiced dentistry for 3 years and my speciality is implantology. I hold a master's degree in dentistry and wish to practice in the states. 😳 I need some information about the process, please allow me to ask the following silly questions:

1. How long dose it normally take to prepare for Part I? i have not taken NBDE, do i still stand any chance to apply for next year's (i mean to enter dental school in 2007) DMD program? Can i take the computer based test anytime in the year ?
2. Do i have to be in the states to apply for dental school?
3. Can anybody give me a list of reference books needed for preparing NBDE part I?
4. Dose working experiences add weight to my application? or, the addmition committee prefer candidates who are practicing dentists or those without working experience in dentistry?
5. My paper-based tofel score is 647, but AWE is only 4, dose this meet the requirment of dental school?

THANK YOU VERY MUCH, WISH YOU ALL THE BEST! 🙂 🙂

1. Depends on you. 2-6 months. Yes if you pass NBDE I by August 2006. Yes
2. No and yes. You can send applications from outside US but you have to be in US for attending interviews.
3. A list of reference books are in ADA.org website.
4. Yes. Working experience requirement varies from school to school but having experience will not go against applicant!
5. Please check with individual school website for TOEFL requirement, as it varies once again.

I hope now you have got the brief response you were looking for.

Good luck,
rahmed

thank you very much for the reply, can you give me a rough idea about the second foreign language? is it useful or not in application? thank you again!

Not really, unless it is Spanish.

My paper-based tofel score is 647

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought the max score of TOEFL is 600.

Thanks for letting me know. I did not know anything about the PBT at all.
