I am a canadian applicant who just recently decided to apply to doctor of osteopathic medicine program.

However, I don't know which school accepts canadian applicants and which school don't. Can anyone please shed a light on this please?
Useful link can be very helpful.

Thankyou.

Hey there,

I'm Canadian as well and applied to a few US Osteopathic schools. I received secondaries from all schools I applied to except NYCOM. I decided to only complete secondaries to UNECOM and DMU and interviewed at the latter last week (awesome school).

So, based on my experience and from what I've heard, the following schools DO accept Canadian applicants include:

AZCOM
CCOM
DMU/COM
KCOM
NSUCOM
PCOM
UNECOM
Western/COMP

I suspect that the following schools DON'T accept Canadians but I could be wrong - it's worth checking on these:

KCUMB-COM
LECOM
MSUCOM
NYCOM
OU-COM
OSUCOM
PCSOM
TUCOM
UMDNJ-SOM
UNTHSC/TCOM
VCOM
WVSOM

If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask, also do an advanced search in the pre-osteo forums for "canada" and "canadian" to pull up some old threads.

Cheers,

I know for sure that TUCOM and UMDNJ-SOM does not accept foreign applicants (at least when I called them).

I know that MSUCOM and NYCOM will accept foreign applicants as I have applied and had no problem. Rest of the schools, I'm not sure since I didn't apply. You can always call the school to ask for these info, and they are nice about it.

Hey!

I'm also a Canadian applicant. Did you guys apply to any MD programs as well?

I also applied to UBC Med but decided to only apply osteopathic in the states. I'm pretty set on family medicine and osteopathic medical education is the gold standard for primary care. If there was less of a cost difference I would very likely take DMU over UBC. As it is, it will be a difficult choice should I be presented with it (still waiting to hear from DMU!).
