I received a message from nrmp that I had pligriazed part of my personal statement. I wrote one paragraph from first aid for match and one of the program, which I applied, figured this out. I didn't now about pligrism and now I am in big trouble. My question is how can explain this to nrmp and what is consequence of this action. Please if anyone has any information in this regard I will be grateful if you can send me any information? I really need help and I appreciate your help.

Oh c'mon. If you're gonna troll you need to try harder, please search for some misterioso posts...read...and learn. This is a sad attempt that nobody is gonna buy, please delete it and try again. Or go sell lame somewhere else, we're all stocked up here.

I didn't sleep for two days and my life is like hell and you thought that is an fictional story. this is a true story not fiction. Please don't joke the situation and as a human being help me if you can.

If you copied your personal statement, you deserve what you get...No sympathy here.

Yep.. you didnt know plagiarism was wrong? WTF? You did get a college degree? and are on your way to an MD? BTW you could get thrown out of school for this as well!

If I were you I would confess to doing something totally stupid and then hope a program needs warm bodies so you can get a spot.

Sorry, not much else to add.

I like the dedication, you may pull this off yet. Its not much of a troll but you're getting some responses so stick with it, consistancy is the key! Throw in some details or a little rightous indignation but be carefull not to go overboard. Good luck and happy trolling 👍

I am not a us grad to know about pligirsm? I am an IMG and I really wasn't aware of this. I didn't copy my whole ps but i used one paragraph which was revealing the same experience that i had. I know this is a waired situation but I did it just unintentionally. blame ohters when they are in thing kind of life crisis situation is not helping and i am accept i did stupid thing but if any one has any recommendation and solution i really appreciate that.

This is major problem and you will be in big trouble. The consequences are miserable in your carrier. Application again through ERAS and the match may be impossible, you have to secure a position outside the match or look for a carrier some where else in other country. The legal consequences you can ask and higher a lawyer. I hope you are kidding and just want to open a thread for discussion.

Plagarism is not a US defined entity. It exists across the world and IMHO, is seen as morally wrong in all societies that have a word for it. It is the unauthorized use or close imitation of the language and thoughts of another author and the representation of them as one's own original work. So if you did not credit the writer of the essay in "First Aid", you are guilty of plagarism. Being an IMG/FMG is not an excuse (and if you are a troll, the pretense of being an IMG/FMG is even further insulting).

Whether you copied your whole PS or "just one paragraph" is not the issue - simply doing it is considered wrong. You can attempt to explain to the NRMP and the programs you applied to, that it was unintentional. But do not be suprised if they kick you out of the match. Several high profile cases of plagarism in the United States and the admission by the majority of college students that they have commmited this act at some time during their academic career, makes for heightened awareness. Besides, a well-known text like "First Aid" is pretty commonly referenced by faculty and other students. There is even software available which will search published works to find similarities in your text.

So, there is not much to do now but attempt to explain it to the NRMP, that it was unintentional and point out how much your own experiences mirror those of the other writer and hope for the best. If you can't get a spot in the NRMP, you will have to find a position outside of the match.

dude, being an IMG is a piss poor pathetic excuse to try and explain your situation. Plagiarism is wrong, anyway you look at it, regardless of where you are from.
This kind of "I'm an IMG, I didn't know what I was doing" attitude is what gives IMG's a bad name. 95%+ aren't at thoughtless in their acts, or in ways to explain their acts when something goes wrong. It's the minority, with explanations like this, that further taint "IMG status".

Not trying to sound like an arse, but you'll get what you deserve. Pleading ignorance won't help you.

hehe...i spelled 'plagarism' wrong...but I'm not an english major, so don't hold it against me please!! bwahahahahaha....

Um, he/she can't even spell plagiarism. How could they know it was wrong? :meanie:

This would have been more interesting if someone was accused of committingplagiarism when they really just happened to write something remarkably similar to someone else's writing....

sorry you are in a bind OP. i hope it works out for you. just be honest about your situation with the nrmp and progs and hope for the best. i would also consult a lawyer before doing anything.

anywho, i thought of an interesting possibility. my essay from a few years ago is posted on a website as an example essay- what if i used a similar format for future essays? could i be accused of plagarizing from myself? if so, how could i proove the essay was mine- it has been cleared of identifying info. hmm. not likely, but a butt scratcher anyways.😀

C'mon Dr. Cox, everyone knows that foreigners don't have ethics and morals . . . 😀

You scared me!! So, am I going to transmit this to my US citizen children? Is it genetically transmitted through out generations? If so, I will let them to deal only with red Indians and Native Americans (for sure they are the only non foreigners). Fortunately, those natives will not get spoiled from my children’s inherited unmoral behaviors.

First of all, it's not genetic, you get the "America is the center of the universe" attitude with your first passport.

Seond, if you're teaching your children to say "red Indians", they're going to have bigger problems in life than a little xenophobia. 😀 😀 😀

Alcoholic-Americans please. Lets try to be a little sensitive.

OP, you're an idiot, and it has nothing to do with being an IMG.

I do not mean to sound callous (and since you have been thoroughly tongue-lashed on this forum for plagiarism already I won't reproach you any more for it) but you have no hope of matching through the NRMP since they caught you at your plagiarism (and since you have no defense for your infraction). Your only shot at a US residency will be outside of the NRMP match or going through SF Match for one of those residencies (and the specialties that use SF Match are very competitive and only take a very few of the best of the best of international students), which significantly reduces your chances of finding a spot. Since you're an IMG, the odds are already stacked against you. With plagiarism on your application, I doubt you have much hope. Since you are an IMG, I assume that means you have already completed medical school (and perhaps residency) in your own country. You should consider whether you want to stay there or, if not, consider applying for a residency in another country that does not use the NRMP and is somewhat open to international students completing residency there (like Canada, perhaps).
