i haven't taken physics II yet. i have been accepted to a school, but they have not mentioned anything thus far about the class. do schools ever forget about stuff like that once you are in, or are they pretty strict about having it fufilled. the reason being is that I was planning a 3 week trip to europe in march-april, and this would obviously cause me to miss quite a bit of class if was to be taking the physics class. (actually, i would miss about 10 days bc it overlaps with the school spring break). i really want to go europe, but at the same time, i don't want to screw myself and not pass the physics class. you guys think it would be feasible to pass the class missing ten days. All i would have to do is "pass" correct? i appreciate the input guys...

first of all you should definitly take the class. i would not bet on schools "forgetting". if they didn't mention it so far that is probably because they just assume you know you have to take it. secondly i think you could do ok in physics without going to all those classes, as long as you keep up with the homework and don't miss any exams. i don't think you're allowed to take prereqs on a pass/fail basis, and the grades you need in prerequisite classes depends on the school but is usually like a 3.0.

I would give the school a call and see what they say about the physics class. They definitely aren't going to forget, but they might give you a break if they feel you'll be ok without it. I had called UOP to ask about second semester inorganic chem. They said that my DAT scores were good enough so I don't need to take chem this spring. I had not taken it as an undergrad because at Berkeley, most bio majors don't take the second semester of chem and take a more intensive o-chem/biochem track instead.

When should I take physics I and II anyways? Physics isn't in the DAT I think. I was considering taking physics I and II during the summer after my sophmore year b/c i'm a little behind, but I'm also considering taking organic instead. Should I wait off physics?

I think it really depends on how comfortable you are with physics. If you don't like math that much, you might not want to take both during the summer. I took physics my 2nd year because I needed it as a pre-req for my upper division classes. As for orgo, I wouldn't take it during the summer because I found orgo took more time for me to learn. Summer class would be too intense and I would be competing with people who are repeating the course.

I agree with crazy_sherm, but you should realise that physics is not on the DAT, while orgo definately is, so you should structure your schedule accordingly. yeah, i don't think taking orgo in the summer is such a wonderful idea, but if that's the only way you'd take it before the DAT, I 'd say do it...

Take the friggin class. There was a guy in my class who had been accepted and decided not to take biochemistry ( a requirement at my school ). The kicked the poor guy out and are making him remediate the year after he takes that course 👎

Also, see if your school offers a pass/fail course of physics II
