Look at the state school in the state in which you will be living. For example, if you are coming to Arizona go to the Arizona State University website or Univeristy of Arizona website and there are plenty of 'short duration' courses. However, to my knowledge there isn't any course as short as 6 months. Most courses are minimum of 2 years/ 4 semesters. Is that what you were asking about? 🙂

Going Hopefully 2 NY....my concernend moreeeeee 4 short course is bczu i dont have NBDE scores. So r there any universities taking people with out that in any dentisty courses? 😕

Well, NYU has an advanced program for foreign trained dentists (1 year). You can check nyucd website.

Hey Tooth.
I agree with g3k here.
You can also apply for a "teaching license" in most states which would allow you to do some clinical work while you teach at a specific institution, but will not allow you to do any dentistry offcampus.
You still need to complete the NBDE exams inorder to be able to apply for that "permit" in most of the programs I have researched before. You may also need a GRE and TOEFL.
Obviously, the first and foremost step would be getting accepted into a teaching position at a dental school (which by the way are way dealing with a shortage problem nowadays, which should be good news for you).
The academic/teaching path is much easier and less tapped than that of the DMD/DDS or residency one.
Try looking into the school g3k recommended since you will be in NYC. NYU is froeign trained friendly and offer many CE options for you to choose from. However, I am not sure if that school in specific offers "teacher permit" options for foreign grads.
Good Luck.

Well i emailed 2 NYU for 2 short dental programs but just got 1 reply from them so far & the information they sent me was not adequte...so i have 2 email them again.....any ways I was SURPRIZED 2 know 😱 how would USA dental university people let international graduate 2 teach at their institution? plz can u tell me more about this....

I remember reading somewhere abt short certificate course in Univ of California.Los Angeles(UCLA). (After that course u do not get a permit to work in this country, but can be helpful for u.).I dont know all the details,so if u want u can call them,or check on there website.

I know NY and CA are far, still i thought u might be intrested in knowing.

Hi Tooth.
Well, you would be better off doing some research on that topic since, atleast I, do not have much information. Maybe someone else might be able to elaborate more profoundly on the details attached to that issue
I AM SURE THAT IT IS POSSIBLE. I was offered a teaching position one time at the University of Florida in the prosthodontics dept., but frankly I was not interested. Ofcourse I would be starting at the bottom of the barrel (maybe a teachers assistant or so), and you should expect that. Slowly but surely.
You should also know that teaching positions are less desirable, as they pay less than clinical ones, and obviously most people shy away from them. Dental/Medical schools have a sometimes crippling shortage in teaching staff, and would love to hear from you. So if that's what you're looking for, then you are in luck.
All you would have to do as I mentioned before, is contact a school, and asking them whether or not they would allow you to apply for a teachers permit, and what pre-requisites they would need (boards, toefl ...).
Good luck !

ThanX alot 4 the information ...now i need 2 do is research about all thiss....1last question beside NY...if i have another option of TEXAS which universities u people will suggest 4 Short courses or teaching thing??? Condidtions r same NO NBDE & tofel so far.
